Product Overview

10mm pea shingle (also called pea gravel or pea stone) supplied in a 800kg bulk bag, made up of smooth, rounded natural pebbles in mixed grey-brown shades.

Fine 10mm grade packs closely together, making it ideal for pipe bedding, trench backfill, and paths where a firm, even surface is required.

Features & Benefits

  • Free-draining aggregate (10mm stones): Allows water to pass easily, preventing waterlogging in drains, beds, and landscaping.
  • Naturally rounded pebbles: Provides a stable, protective bedding layer for pipes and trenches.
  • Colour variation (grey-brown mix): Neutral tones blend discreetly with outdoor groundworks; not intended as a decorative finish.
  • Non-compacting material: Retains drainage capacity and stability over time, avoiding the need for regular replenishment.
  • Cost-effective, non-decorative: Ideal for practical groundworks where decorative stone is not required.
  • Low-maintenance material: Once laid, requires minimal attention in long-term use.
  • 800kg bulk bag supply: Reduces downtime and reordering, keeping larger projects on schedule.
  • Stone size range (4-10mm): Fine grading suits backfill and tight-space applications.

Please Note: Colours vary naturally between grey and brown and cannot be chosen at the point of sale. This is a non-decorative material - for decorative finishes, consider an alternative stone from our range of colourful stones and chippings.

Weight may vary by ±5% due to differing moisture levels in the aggregate.

Applications

  • Drainage systems: Can be used with French drains, soakaways, and general drainage runs, supporting water flow and stability.
  • Pipe bedding: Commonly used beneath perforated pipes to protect against damage and ensure consistent water movement.
  • Backfilling drains: Provides stable, free-draining backfill in trench applications for improved water management.
  • Landscaping and garden beds: Acts as a mulch, reducing erosion and suppressing weeds when combined with a permeable membrane.

Installation Guidance

  • Weed control preparation: For best results, install a permeable weed-suppressant membrane before laying to block sunlight, reduce germination, and provide a barrier against persistent weeds.
  • Layer thickness: Spread evenly to the required depth to maintain drainage capacity and weed-suppressing performance.
  • Handling bulk bags: Delivered in crane-offload bulk bags; mechanical lifting equipment or multiple people recommended for safe movement.

Compliance & Performance

  • Aggregate grading (4-10mm, rounded): Meets practical requirements for drainage, bedding, and landscaping.
  • Service class (external ground contact): Suitable for outdoor, ground-level use in free-draining applications.
