Product Overview
Grano Dust supplied in a 800kg bulk bag, consisting of finely crushed granite aggregate screened to 0-6mm.
Often referred to as granite dust, the name comes from its origin as a by-product of granite crushing, where granum (Latin for grain) reflects its fine grading.
When compacted, it forms a smooth, stable base that hardens while still allowing drainage, making it suitable for screeds, paving, driveways, paths, and artificial grass installation.
Features & Benefits
- Hardens when compacted damp: Binds together to form a rock-like base while remaining permeable.
- Free-draining structure: Prevents pooling and frost heave by allowing water to pass through.
- Weed suppression: Dense compaction helps inhibit weed growth, reducing maintenance.
- Improves concrete strength: Enhances compressive strength in screeds, mortars, and fine concretes.
- Smooth finish support: Provides an even bedding layer that reduces movement and lipping in paving or turf.
- Moisture management: Can be blended with soil to aid water retention for planting.
- Cost-effective byproduct: Typically more economical than primary aggregates of similar grading.
- Bulk bag format: Delivers ample volume for large projects such as driveways, hard standings, and landscaping works.
- HIAB crane offloading: Delivered via a vehicle equipped with a heavy-duty crane arm to allow for precise kerbside placement. Ensure the delivery site has sufficient access for a large HGV and is clear of overhead obstructions for crane operation.
Please Note: Colour and texture vary naturally depending on source. Bulk bag weight may differ by ±5% due to moisture content.
Applications
- Flooring screeds and mortar mixes: Blends with sand and cement to create durable, level screeds with improved strength.
- Driveways, paving, and paths: Compacts to provide a smooth, stable sub-base beneath slabs, blocks, or concrete.
- Artificial grass installation: Used with MOT Type 1 to provide a stable, permeable base for synthetic turf.
- Sports and industrial flooring: Suitable for fine concrete bases in garages, workshops, factories, and sports courts.
- Hard standings and capping layers: Used to top sub-bases or form durable, flat surfaces for landscaping.
- Soil improvement: Mixed into soil to improve moisture management and aid growing conditions.
Installation Guidance
- Spread and compact in thin layers: Ensures uniform stability and prevents settlement.
- Moisten slightly before compacting: Aids binding, allowing the dust to harden into a firm surface.
- Combine with MOT Type 1 where required: Provides added depth and stability for heavy-duty bases.
Compliance & Performance
- Aggregate grading: Screened to 0-6mm for consistent compaction and bedding performance.
- Service class: Suitable for external landscaping, sub-bases, screeding, concreting, and fine flooring applications.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
