DELIVERY INFORMATION
We coordinate a nationwide network of trusted suppliers to get materials to you when and where you need them. Here’s everything you need to know about delivery, so you can plan with confidence.
How our delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. This means items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and arrive in separate deliveries. Where that’s the case, you’ll see the relevant delivery charges clearly shown at checkout for each part of your order.

Delivery areas and charges
Standard delivery charges shown on our website apply to UK mainland addresses, excluding the following postcode areas: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your delivery address is in one of these areas, we’ll contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional delivery costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
Delivery lead times
Most products can be delivered within 2 days if ordered before 2pm. Some products have a lead time of 3 days or longer. Specific delivery times are shown on each product page.
Why building materials can cost more than typical delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles (and sometimes specialist vehicles like HIABs for bulky loads). These deliveries usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks like Amazon or Yodel, and may need extra handling at the delivery address. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Core Delivery charges apply only when all products in an order that have equivalents are accepted as such. If even one product cannot be substituted with an equivalent, the entire order will not qualify for Core Delivery charges.

Making sure your delivery goes smoothly
We give you a named delivery day and work closely with our suppliers to deliver on it. If anything changes, we’ll let you know immediately by text, email, or phone – so you can adjust your plans.
What we need from you
To complete your delivery successfully, we need:
- Someone on-site – An adult available to accept the delivery and, for heavier items, assist with offloading
- Safe vehicle access – Clear access for the delivery vehicle (see Restricted Access below)
- Kerbside delivery – All deliveries are made to the kerbside of your property. Offload facilities (tail lift, forklift) can be requested but may include an additional charge
Check your delivery before signing
Before you sign the Proof of Delivery:
- Check all items have arrived – Make sure nothing is missing
- Check the products are correct – Confirm you’ve received what you ordered
- Check for damage – Look for any visible damage or defects
- Record any issues on the Proof of Delivery – Note anything missing, damaged, or incorrect before signing
By signing without notes, you’re confirming the delivery is complete and in good condition. If you spot an issue later that wasn’t visible at delivery, report it within 48 hours.

Order cut-off times
Orders placed before 2pm on working days are processed the same day. Orders placed after 2pm are processed the next working day. For example, an order placed after 2pm on Friday will be processed on Monday.
If we can’t complete your delivery
For large and bulky items (timber, plasterboard, cement, insulation, bulk bags), we offer named day delivery. To keep deliveries running smoothly for everyone, we need safe vehicle access and someone on-site to accept the delivery.
If we’re unable to complete a delivery because of access issues, no one available, or other reasons within your control, we may need to charge a redelivery fee of ÂŖ50 ex. VAT or 20% of your order value, whichever is greater.

Cancellations
If you need to cancel your order, please let us know by 2pm on the working day before your scheduled delivery. Goods are typically loaded onto vehicles during the afternoon before dispatch, with other orders stacked on top.
For example, for a Monday delivery, notify us by 2pm on the preceding Friday. Cancellations after this time may result in a redelivery charge, as we may be unable to remove your items from the vehicle.
Unattended delivery
If you’re unavailable and would like the delivery to take place in your absence, please email theteam@materialsmarket.com or call us on 020 7459 4574 no later than 2pm on the day before delivery.
Please note: You will take full responsibility for the products once the supplier has confirmed delivery. No chargeback will be accepted, as you have waived your right to have a signed Proof of Delivery.
Restricted Access
If your delivery address has any access restrictions, please tell us when you order or no later than 2pm on the day before delivery. Restrictions include:
- Double yellow lines or red routes
- Narrow lanes, steep hills, low bridges, or width-restricted roads
If a specialist vehicle (van or hiab) is needed, there may be an additional charge. We’ll contact you as soon as possible to discuss your options.
