Please Note:

  • Timber may be supplied with engineered finger-joints. Engineered timber has a glue line that is stronger than the timber itself; it also has all defects and knots removed. This makes engineered timber 60% stronger than its solid timber alternatives.
  • The finished size of our carcassing timber may vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished with a thickness 2mm less and a width 5mm less than the nominal measurements stated. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

What is 6x2 Timber 7.2m?

6x2 Timber 7.2m (commonly referred to as 150mm x 50mm timber) is a premium, pressure-treated timber product designed for a broad spectrum of structural and construction applications. Graded as C24, this timber is specifically engineered to meet the strength and performance standards required for load-bearing roles in flooring, roofing, timber framing, and various general joinery applications.

To ensure exceptional durability and resistance to environmental factors, this timber is both kiln-dried and treated with advanced preservatives. The treatment provides robust protection against moisture, fungal decay, and insect infestation, making it particularly well-suited for use in the often damp and variable conditions typical of the UK climate.

6x2 Timber 7.2m is planed all round, resulting in a smooth, uniform surface that facilitates easy handling and precise installation. Its C24 grading guarantees that it meets the necessary structural performance requirements, making it ideal for both residential and commercial construction projects where strength, stability, and longevity are paramount.

Here at Materials Market, we sell a wide range of treated timber in a variety of sizes and lengths. Our high-quality C24 grade treated 6x2 is avaliable in 2.4m, 3m, 3.6m, 4.2m, 4.8m, 6m and 7.2m lengths, with a consistent thickness of 47mm.

Please Note: The finished size of our carcassing timber may vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished with a thickness 2mm less and a width 5mm less than the nominal measurements stated. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

6x2 Timber Sizing Explained

With a nominal size of 47mmx150mm, 6x2 timber has a finished size of 45mmx145mm. This difference is so negligible, however, that it is commonly referred to as 47x150, or 6 x 2.
