Product Overview

Kiln-dried, regularised sawn softwood with eased edges for stable, easy handling in light framing, grounds, and general joinery.

75mm width with a 3.6m length combines added reach with manageable handling for continuous runs.

Features & Benefits

  • Factory applied preservative treatment: Protects timber in typical above-ground conditions when installed properly.
  • Kiln-dried & regularised: Helps control shrinkage and ensures even sizing for accurate work.
  • Eased edges: Safer handling and a cleaner finish with reduced splinter risk.
  • Sawn face texture: Provides a stable key for membranes, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Easy to work: Cuts, drills, and fixes readily with standard tools and exterior-rated fixings.
  • Length - 3.6m: Reduces joints in mid-length bays.
  • Wide 75mm section: Increased bearing area for light-duty frames.
  • Section size - 47mm x 75mm (3" x 2"): Versatile carcassing size for non-structural use.

Applications

  • Light-duty studwork and grounds: Non-structural backing for linings and claddings.
  • Garden projects: Planters, seating, and pergola infill.
  • Decking accessories: Noggings and perimeter packers (not main joists).
  • General DIY: Utility frames and trims.

Installation Guidance

  • Pre-drill near edges: Minimises splitting on small sections.
  • Fix with exterior-grade screws: Prevents rust and black stains. Using the right screws avoids weakening joints over time.
  • End-grain protection: Seal all cut ends and notches with a suitable end-grain preservative product to maintain treatment integrity.

Compliance & Performance

  • Preservative treatment (Tanalith ‘E’): Pressure treatment provides resistance against fungal decay and insect attack.
  • Non-structural classification: Suitable only for light-duty and non-load-bearing applications indoors or outdoors.
  • Dimensional tolerance: Finished sizes typically arrive slightly under nominal, often around 2mm less in thickness and 5mm less in width.
  • Natural variation: Colour and surface appearance vary naturally and by treatment batch.
  • Moisture disclaimer: Treated Timber is often stored outside and if it has recently been raining then the timber may arrive wet; this does not affect the integrity of the timber.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Questions and Answers

Is this Moisture resistance for outhouse

I'm converting a single-brick outhouse into a utility room. The space currently has a lot of moisture and condensation issues. I’m planning to insulate the walls using 50mm PIR boards and then fix plasterboard over them. Can this timber be used as the structural framework for the walls, ceiling and floor to support the insulation and plasterboard?

In short, yes it can. The timber is treated to resist moisture and rot, and is suitable for support plasterboard. We would recommend treating any cut ends of the timber, as this tends to be a weka point even for pre-treated products. We would also recommend that a Vapour Barrier be installed between the frame and plasterboard to reduce the risk of condensation in the build-up of material. Please find the following example - https://materialsmarket.com/products/125mu-500g-green-vapour-barrier-4m-x-50m-200m2-roll
