About 2x2 3.6m

2x2 3.6m timber is an essential material for a wide variety of internal and external projects. Pressure treated for durability, kiln-dried for stability, and regularised with eased edges for consistency and safe handling, it is particularly well-suited for non-structural applications in DIY, garden construction, and light framing tasks where high structural strength is not the primary requirement.

It is commonly used for modest carpentry tasks, such as assembling basic frameworks or creating low-level garden installations like planters, trellises, and edging. Indoors, it’s just as handy for shelving, trim work, and smaller DIY builds where a sturdy yet compact timber solution is required.

Please Note: The finished size of our carcassing timber may vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished with a thickness 2mm less and a width 5mm less than the nominal measurements stated. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

Applications

  • In roof and flooring joists
  • As part of a building structure's timber frame
  • Outdoor decking, frames and pergolas
  • Fencing
  • Garden sheds/furniture

Benefits

  • Tanalised timber pressure treated with Tanalith 'E' to prevent rot
  • Kiln dried to improve stability and straightness
  • Regularised with an eased edge
  • Suitable for both indoor and outdoor builds
  • Versatile option for a range of DIY or construction tasks

Softwood Composition

  • Species: This timber is typically manufactured from softwood species such as Spruce (Picea abies) or Pine (Pinus spp.), often referred to collectively as Whitewood. These are fast-growing, readily available species well-suited to pressure treatment.

Storage & Handling
  • Storage: Before installation, store the timber flat on bearers to keep it off the ground. It should be kept under cover, protected from rain and prolonged direct sunlight, to maintain its stability and prevent excessive wetting.
  • Handling: While the timber has eased edges, always wear suitable gloves to protect hands from splinters and residual treatment chemicals. Handle the lengths carefully to avoid damaging the edges and corners.
