What Is 10x2 Timber 3.6m?
Invest in quality with 3.6m 10x2 C24 Treated Timber. Here at Materials Market, all of our sawn timber is pressure treated and kiln dried, giving additional protection against bugs and moisture.
These 10x2 timber 3.6m lengths have been planed all round to produce a smooth easi edge that allows for comfortable handling.
Despite a nominal size of 47mm x 250mm, their actual finished size is 45mm x 245mm. As carcassing timber they have a C24 grading, which makes them suitable for structural applications such as flooring joists, roofing, as well as timber frame stud walls and other general joinery applications.
Please Note: The finished size of our carcassing timber may vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished with a thickness 2mm less and a width 5mm less than the nominal measurements stated. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.
Applications
Carcassing timber is a kiln-dried treated structural graded softwood that is most often seen in construction where a grading stamp is needed. It can be utilised in a variety of ways both internally and externally, and it's widely used in floor joists, roof joists, and timber framing construction.
No matter the application, it's relatively easy to cut treated timber to the size that you need in your project, though this should only be attempted with the appropriate power tools, eye protection and a respirator.
Carcassing timber is generally used in the following building applications:
- Stud walls
- Joists for roofs, floors and decking
- Structural and general joinery applications
- Timber framing construction
Benefits
- Structural Strength: With a C24 grading, this timber is certified for high-strength structural applications. You can confidently use it for demanding load-bearing tasks like floor joists, roof rafters, and timber framing, ensuring the integrity and safety of your construction.
- Enhanced Durability & Longevity: Pressure treated to protect against fungal decay and insect attack, this timber is built to last, even in external applications or situations where moisture might be present. This treatment significantly extends the lifespan of the wood compared to untreated alternatives.
- Improved Stability: Kiln-drying reduces the timber's moisture content, minimising the risk of twisting, warping, or shrinking after installation. This stability is crucial for maintaining the structural integrity and appearance of your project over time.
- Comfortable Handling & Smooth Finish: Planed all round with an 'easi edge', this timber is smooth to the touch and free from rough edges, making it safer and more comfortable to handle and work with during installation. The smooth surface also provides an excellent base for painting, staining, or other finishes if required.
- Versatile Application: Suitable for a wide array of construction and joinery tasks, from creating robust floor and roof structures to building timber frame walls and general joinery projects, offering flexibility for various building needs.
- Ready for Use: Treated and kiln-dried, this timber is supplied ready for immediate use in your structural projects, saving you time and preparation effort on site.
