Therefore, images may vary slightly from delivered products due to the natural variation in colour and grain.
What is 25mm Marine Grade Plywood?
25mm marine plywood is a specialised type of plywood designed to withstand humid and wet conditions, making it ideal for use in marine environments and other applications where exposure to moisture is a concern.
Unlike regular plywood, 25mm marine plywood sheets are made with waterproof glue and are much less likely to swell or delaminate when exposed to moisture. As the name suggests, 25mm marine plywood is extensively used in the construction of boats and other marine vessels. Its water-resistant properties make it an ideal material for hulls, decks, and other components exposed to water.
Despite its marine specification, it is equally efficient in a wide range of construction applications where strength and stability are key such as flooring, roofing and wall applications.
Furthermore, 25mm marine plywood conforms to BS1088 (the British standard specification for Marine Plywood) which assures that it is manufactured from durable Meranti hardwood veneers. This stamp of approval ensures that the product will perform well in almost any environment.
Where is 25mm Marine Grade Plywood Used?
Marine plywood 25mm delivers excellent results in a wide range of interior applications and exterior applications. Fit for structural use, it can be relied upon in flooring, roofing, wall and external joinery.
- Shopfitting
- Storage boxes
- Bathrooms
- Sheds
- Walkways
- Kitchens
- Patios
- Indoor vehicle storage areas
- Roof supports
- Temporary structures
- Cold frames
If used for an aesthetic application such as shelving, we suggest sanding and adding a layer of varnish to enhance its overall appearance.
25mm Marine Plywood 2440mm x 1220mm Benefits

- Interior and exterior plywood board
- Suitable for flooring, roofing and wall applications

25mm Marine Plywood Moisture Resistance
25mm Marine Grade Plywood utilises only highly durable species of timber to resist decaying in water-based applications. This structural makeup and moisture resistance is what makes marine plywood so loved by boat-building industries and marine insurers, as it boasts unrivalled weatherproof quality and performance in wet conditions over extended periods.
While naturally resistant to moisture, you can easily increase the service life of marine plywood by sealing both the edges and faces of the sheets.
25mm Marine Grade Plywood Size
Marine plywood 25mm comes in a 2440mm x 1220mm x 25mm sheet, giving a square metre size of roughly 2.98m2.
25mm Marine Plywood Weight
Our 25mm marine plywood is expertly engineered to deliver both strength and reliability for demanding applications. Each sheet weighs a sturdy 35kg, providing the perfect balance between durability and manageability. This weight ensures that the plywood can withstand the harsh conditions of marine environments while remaining easy to handle and transport.
25mm Marine Grade Plywood Manufacturing Process
Where standard plywood sheets are generally made up of layers of softwood and hardwood, 25mm Marine Ply is manufactured in a process called cross-graining (where each adjacent layer is rotated by up to 90 degrees) using many layers of water-resistant tropical hardwood that are bonded together with waterproof glue. This process prevents warping and ensures ultimate strength and stability.
Unlike standard plywood, 25mm marine plywood is free of air pockets and core voids, reducing the likelihood of water getting trapped between the layers. If you were to slice through a sheet of regular plywood, you'd be able to spot holes and voids within the layers. In avoiding these holes, marine plywood boasts greater structural integrity and rot-resistant qualities, making it suitable for demanding requirements where the board is likely to be exposed to the elements.
Both the quality and lay-up of the sheet's veneers render 25mm marine plywood an extremely robust and resilient product.
How To Cut 25mm Marine Plywood
Despite its strength, cutting 25mm marine plywood is anything but difficult. Simply cut it to size with a jigsaw and cut along the grain lines to achieve a smoother cut.
