Product Overview

BS1088-certified marine-grade plywood sheet, measuring 2440mm x 1220mm (8' x 4') with an 18mm thickness.

Made from durable tropical hardwood veneers and bonded with waterproof adhesive, it resists swelling, warping, delamination, and rot even under prolonged moisture exposure.

Unlike standard plywood, it contains no core voids, preventing water entrapment and improving overall strength.

Widely used for hull planking, flooring, and heavy-duty marine construction, the solid hardwood face is pre-sanded and can be left natural, stained, or varnished.

Features & Benefits

  • BS1088 certification: Meets British Standard for marine-grade plywood in demanding conditions.
  • Waterproof bonding: Ensures resistance to delamination and swelling under continuous wet exposure.
  • No core voids: Prevents water traps and improves strength compared with standard plywood.
  • Moisture performance: Withstands long-term immersion, unlike MR MDF or standard ply.
  • Rot resistance: Designed for extended service life in damp or wet environments.
  • Pliable design: Can bend without cracking, suitable for curved marine and joinery work.
  • Impact resistance: Strong veneer lay-up withstands heavy use and knocks.
  • Workability: Easy to cut, drill, and shape with woodworking tools.
  • Standard sheet size (2440mm x 1220mm): Covers 2.98m² per sheet, minimises waste.
  • Thickness 18mm: Heavy-duty board for hull planking, structural flooring, and demanding joinery.

Please Note: Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

Applications

  • Marine construction: Hull planking, decking, and bulkheads.
  • Exterior joinery: Roof supports, patios, sheds, and cold frames.
  • Interior joinery: Kitchens, bathrooms, and shopfitting.
  • General use: Storage boxes, walkways, and vehicle interiors.

Installation Guidance

  • Seal edges and faces: Extends service life when exposed outdoors.
  • Use waterproof fixings and adhesives: Maintains performance under wet conditions.
  • Apply varnish or paint if exposed: Enhances appearance and adds further protection.

Compliance & Performance

  • Standard: Certified to BS1088 for marine-grade plywood.
  • Veneer quality: Manufactured from durable tropical hardwood, free of core voids.
  • Bonding: Waterproof adhesive suitable for continuous wet exposure.
  • Classification note: Formerly referred to as WBP plywood; superseded by BS1088 and EN standards.
