Product Overview

Standard fire-resistant plasterboard sheet, measuring 2400 × 1200mm with a 12.5mm tapered edge, for use in ceilings, partitions, and wall linings where board size aligns with typical stud spacing and maximises coverage.

The tapered edge profile creates a shallow recess at board joints, designed to accommodate tape and jointing compound. Once filled and finished, the surface becomes seamless and ready for direct decoration.

Standard dimensions reduce the number of joints required across walls and ceilings, improving installation efficiency while maintaining dependable performance in partition and lining systems.

At 12.5mm thick, the board represents the industry standard, offering reliable strength and stability for partitions and linings while helping to slow the spread of flames and support fire-resistant construction.

Features & Benefits

  • Fire-resistant core: Provides up to 30 minutes’ protection against the spread of fire when used in the correct system.
  • Tapered edge profile: Allows joint compound and tape to sit flush with the board, avoiding raised seams.
  • Pink paper face: Provides easy visual identification of fire-rated board.
  • Lightweight gypsum core: Simplifies lifting, cutting, and fixing.
  • Suitable for ceilings: Reduced weight makes overhead work less demanding.
  • Made by Knauf Drywall: Backed by quality and compliance standards.
  • Standard 2400mm x 1200mm size: Fits common framing and grid systems.
  • 12.5mm thickness: Standard for drylining - basis for most stud, track, and lining specs.

Applications

  • Internal partitions: 12.5mm profile provides certified fire resistance for non-loadbearing dividing walls in residential and commercial buildings.
  • Loft conversions: Mandatory fire-rated lining for walls and ceilings to meet Building Regulations Part B in domestic attic habitable spaces.
  • HMO room separation: Specified for multi-occupancy dwellings to provide enhanced fire separation between bedrooms and communal escape routes.
  • Garage-to-house fire walls: Provides the required fire-stop barrier between attached garages and habitable living areas when installed in accordance with fire certification.

Installation Guidance

  • Fix with staggered joints: Improves strength and reduces cracking.
  • Cut by scoring and snapping: Ensures accurate sizing.
  • Store flat in a dry space: Prevents moisture damage and warping.

Compliance & Performance

  • Compliance: EN 520, Types A and D: Conforms to plasterboard requirements for fire resistance.
  • Categorised as Gypsum Type X: Classified for enhanced fire performance.
  • BS EN ISO 9001: 2000: Produced under recognised quality management standards.
  • BS 1230: Part 1 1985: Meets established plasterboard performance requirements.
  • Non-combustible to BS 476: Part 4: Certified fire safety compliance.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Questions and Answers

Fire board vs standard plasterboard?

The main difference is the core density and additives. While Standard Plasterboard (Grey) is designed for general-purpose walls, Fire Panel (Pink) contains glass fibres and other additives that help the board maintain its structural integrity when exposed to fire.

answer supplied by James Herbert on 17 December 2025

How many layers of fire board for 30 minutes?

Yes, 12.5mm fire-rated plasterboard is commonly used in garages.

answer supplied by Vigu Gnanadevan on 07 October 2025

Can fire plasterboard be used in a garage?

To achieve a 30-minute fire rating, you typically only need one layer of 12.5mm fire-rated plasterboard on each side of a standard timber or metal stud partition.
