Why Fire Plasterboard?

  • Fire plasterboard is designed to enhance fire resistance and preserve the structural integrity of walls, ceilings and partitions.
  • Often termed "pink plasterboard", its colouration, derived from either the treated surface or fire-resistant additives within the gypsum core, simplifies identification on site.
  • It is often used in corridors, stairwells, and around high-risk areas such as boilers, kitchens, electrical installations, and storage rooms where fire hazards are more likely to occur.

Why 12.5mm?

  • 12.5mm plasterboard is the standard thickness for most construction projects, offering a balanced combination of strength, durability, and ease of installation for general wall and ceiling applications.
  • It provides better structural integrity and sound insulation than the lighter 9.5mm board while being less bulky than the thicker 15mm option. However, unless specified as a performance board, it should not be relied upon as a standalone solution for soundproofing.

Why Square Edge?

  • Square edge plasterboard features a clean, straight edge, making it ideal for areas where joints will be concealed with joint compound, tape, trims, or mouldings.
  • Commonly used in non-structural applications such as internal wall linings and ceilings, it is well-suited for spaces where additional finishing is planned.

Why 2400mm x 1200mm?

  • 2400mm x 1200mm plasterboard is the standard size used for wall and ceiling installations. Its larger dimensions allow for faster coverage of wide surfaces, which is especially beneficial in larger rooms or open spaces.
  • Using these standard-sized boards means fewer sheets are needed to cover the area, which not only saves time during installation but also reduces the number of joints and seams that need finishing. Fewer seams result in a cleaner, smoother finish and less overall labour.

Knauf Drywall

  • Knauf Drywall's dedication to quality and compliance is reflected in their extensive gypsum product portfolio.
  • These drywall solutions empower contractors, architects, and specialists to create buildings that meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and sustainability while adhering to the strictest industry regulations.

  • Partitions
  • Ceiling and lining systems
  • Encasement and shaft wall systems
  • Domestic separating walls

  • Ideal for direct decoration or Thistle gypsum plaster finish.
  • Provides 30 minutes of protection against the spread of flames.
  • Can be fixed to timber and structural steel encasement systems.

  • Bonds to insulation boards on masonry walls using Knauf Plasterboard Adhesive.

Certifications

  • Compliance: EN 520, Types A and D
  • Categorised as Gypsum Type X
  • BS EN ISO 9001: 2000
  • BS 1230: Part 1 1985
  • Non combustible to BS 476: Part 4

Storage & Handling

  • Store boards horizontally to prevent warping or sagging.
  • Shield boards from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations.
  • A cool, dry, and well-ventilated storage area is ideal.
  • Avoid direct contact with the ground.
  • Store boards on a level surface, such as pallets or timber supports, to prevent moisture absorption and damage.
