Why Fire Plasterboard?
- Fire plasterboard is designed to enhance fire resistance and preserve the structural integrity of walls, ceilings and partitions.
- Often termed "pink plasterboard", its colouration, derived from either the treated surface or fire-resistant additives within the gypsum core, simplifies identification on site.
- It is often used in corridors, stairwells, and around high-risk areas such as boilers, kitchens, electrical installations, and storage rooms where fire hazards are more likely to occur.
Why 12.5mm?
- 12.5mm plasterboard is the standard thickness for most construction projects, offering a balanced combination of strength, durability, and ease of installation for general wall and ceiling applications.
- It provides better structural integrity and sound insulation than the lighter 9.5mm board while being less bulky than the thicker 15mm option. However, unless specified as a performance board, it should not be relied upon as a standalone solution for soundproofing.
Why Square Edge?
- Square edge plasterboard features a clean, straight edge, making it ideal for areas where joints will be concealed with joint compound, tape, trims, or mouldings.
- Commonly used in non-structural applications such as internal wall linings and ceilings, it is well-suited for spaces where additional finishing is planned.
Why 1800mm x 900mm?
- 1800mm x 900mm plasterboard offers a more compact and manageable size compared to standard 2400mm x 1200mm sheets, making it an excellent choice for projects where ease of handling, transport, and installation are crucial.
- Its smaller dimensions are particularly advantageous in tight spaces, rooms with limited access, or smaller renovation projects where manoeuvring larger sheets could be challenging.
- Additionally, the 1800mm size helps reduce material wastage, making it an efficient option for more precise, smaller-scale applications.
