Why Sound Panel?

  • Knauf Sound Panel offers a cost-effective solution for enhancing acoustic comfort in dry residential and light commercial spaces.
  • With a density of 10kg/m², it provides a higher level of acoustic performance compared to standard plasterboard, making it an excellent choice for areas where improved sound control is desired, such as partitions and linings in homes or offices.
  • The board features an aerated gypsum core and is faced with premium paper liners on both sides, which contribute to a smooth, durable surface that is ready for finishing.
  • It is compatible with Knauf Jointing Products and Ready Mix Spray Finish, streamlining the installation and finishing process.

Why 12.5mm?

  • 12.5mm plasterboard is the standard thickness for most construction projects, offering a balanced combination of strength, durability, and ease of installation for general wall and ceiling applications.
  • It provides better structural integrity and sound insulation than the lighter 9.5mm board, while being less bulky than the thicker 15mm option.
  • However, unless specified as a performance board, it should not be relied upon as a standalone solution for soundproofing.

Why Tapered Edge?

  • Tapered-edge plasterboard features sloped edges that create a recess when joined, making applying joint tape and compound easier for a smooth, paint-ready finish.
  • It minimises visible seams and reduces the amount of joint compound needed, making it ideal for aesthetic-focused projects like walls, ceilings, and partitions.

Why 2400mm x 1200mm?

  • 2400mm x 1200mm plasterboard is the standard size used for wall and ceiling installations. Its larger dimensions allow for faster coverage of wide surfaces, which is especially beneficial in larger rooms or open spaces.
  • Using these standard-sized boards means fewer sheets are needed to cover the area, which not only saves time during installation but also reduces the number of joints and seams that need finishing. Fewer seams result in a cleaner, smoother finish and less overall labour.

Knauf Drywall

  • Knauf Drywall's dedication to quality and compliance is reflected in their extensive gypsum product portfolio.
  • These drywall solutions empower contractors, architects, and specialists to create buildings that meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and sustainability while adhering to the strictest industry regulations.

Storage & Handling

  • Store boards horizontally to prevent warping or sagging.
  • Shield boards from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations. A cool, dry, and well-ventilated storage area is ideal.
  • Avoid direct contact with the ground. Store boards on a level surface, such as pallets or timber supports, to prevent moisture absorption and damage.
