Why Fire Plasterboard?
- Fire plasterboard is designed to enhance fire resistance and preserve the structural integrity of walls, ceilings and partitions.
- Often termed "pink plasterboard", its colouration, derived from either the treated surface or fire-resistant additives within the gypsum core, simplifies identification on site.
- It is often used in corridors, stairwells, and around high-risk areas such as boilers, kitchens, electrical installations, and storage rooms where fire hazards are more likely to occur.
Why 15mm?
- Offers up to one hour's fire resistance with just a single layer per side of a partition, compared to the 30 minutes of resistance offered by 12.5mm fire variants.
- 15mm plasterboard, our thickest variant, offers superior strength and impact resistance, making it ideal for supporting heavier fixtures and reducing the risk of sagging.
- Its increased thickness provides greater durability than thinner variants, making it the preferred choice for ceilings and walls that require enhanced structural integrity.
Why Tapered Edge?
- Tapered-edge plasterboard features sloped edges that create a recess when joined, making applying joint tape and compound easier for a smooth, paint-ready finish.
- It minimises visible seams and reduces the amount of joint compound needed, making it ideal for aesthetic-focused projects like walls, ceilings, and partitions.
Why 2400mm x 1200mm?
- 2400mm x 1200mm plasterboard is the standard size used for wall and ceiling installations. Its larger dimensions allow for faster coverage of wide surfaces, which is especially beneficial in larger rooms or open spaces.
- Using these standard-sized boards means fewer sheets are needed to cover the area, which not only saves time during installation but also reduces the number of joints and seams that need finishing. Fewer seams result in a cleaner, smoother finish and less overall labour.
