Product Overview
Soudal B2 Fire Rated Expanding is a one-component, self-expanding polyurethane foam supplied in a 750ml canister for direct hand-held use.
This professional-grade B2 fire-rated foam provides reliable sealing, filling, and insulating performance for construction and renovation applications. Its polyurethane composition ensures strong adhesion to most building materials, forming a durable bond that resists air leakage and moisture ingress.
Designed for fire-retardant sealing around joints, gaps, and penetrations, the foam achieves up to 2 hours’ fire resistance in accordance with EN 1366-4, depending on joint configuration. Its dense, closed-cell structure provides effective sound insulation with an acoustic rating of 58dB and excellent thermal performance with a conductivity value of 36mW/mK.
The formulation remains dimensionally stable once cured, eliminating shrinkage or post-expansion to ensure a consistent and long-lasting seal. The HCFC- and CFC-free propellants contribute to a safer environmental profile without compromising application quality.
The integrated hand-held nozzle allows direct dispensing from the can, enabling controlled application without the need for additional tools - ideal for small-scale or precision sealing work. Each can delivers high-yield output with uniform expansion for efficient gap filling and insulation performance.
Features & Benefits
- Fire-rated performance: Classified to EN 1366-4 with up to 2 hours’ fire resistance, providing safety assurance in passive fire protection systems.
- Stable expansion: Maintains its volume after curing without shrinkage or post-expansion, ensuring accurate, reliable sealing.
- High adhesion: Bonds securely to concrete, masonry, metal, timber, and plastics for versatile use in mixed-material assemblies.
- Dual insulation: Provides sound reduction up to 58dB and thermal insulation with a conductivity of 36mW/mK, improving comfort and energy efficiency.
- Environmental protection: Formulated with HCFC- and CFC-free propellants, preventing harm to the ozone layer.
- Convenient application: Hand-held canister with built-in straw enables direct dispensing without applicator guns, ideal for smaller or detailed jobs.
- Can size – 750ml: Provides ample volume for multiple sealing or insulation tasks, ensuring efficient material usage per application.
Applications
- Fire-retardant sealing: Around service penetrations, expansion joints, and structural openings.
- Door and window framing: For air-tight, thermally efficient installation of frames and casings.
- Gap and void filling: For walls, floors, and partition interfaces where expansion or soundproofing is required.
- Roof and ceiling openings: Suitable for sealing voids around pipework, ducts, and cable entries.
- Acoustic insulation: Reduces sound transmission in partition walls, floors, and cavity spaces.
- Thermal insulation: Enhances energy retention in HVAC, refrigeration, and building envelope systems.
Installation Guidance
- Surface preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or loose materials before application.
- Application method: Shake the can vigorously and attach the straw nozzle firmly before dispensing the foam.
- Dispensing: Apply the foam in layers, filling approximately one-third of the gap to allow controlled expansion.
- Curing time: Allow full curing for approximately 24 hours before trimming or finishing.
- Finishing: Once cured, excess foam may be cut, sanded, or painted as required.
- Safety handling: Use in well-ventilated areas and wear protective gloves during application.
Compliance & Performance
- Fire classification: Tested to EN 1366-4, providing up to 2 hours of fire resistance depending on joint dimensions.
- Thermal conductivity: 36mW/mK, supporting effective energy conservation.
- Acoustic insulation: Rated at 58dB sound reduction.
- Environmental compliance: Free from HCFCs and CFCs; non-ozone-depleting formulation.
- Adhesion strength: Excellent bond to most construction substrates, including concrete, masonry, timber, and plastics.
- Dimensional stability: High resistance to shrinkage and post-expansion for consistent performance.
- Important note: Always follow manufacturer’s safety and usage instructions; contents are pressurised - store and use as directed.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
