What is Pinkgrip Adhesive?

Everbuild Pinkgrip Adhesive is a revolutionary direct bond adhesive formulated specifically for professional users in the construction sector. Delivered in a convenient cartridge applicator, Everbuild Pinkgrip adhesive is engineered with cutting-edge polymers that set it apart from traditional adhesives.

This high-performance adhesive is designed to bond seamlessly to virtually all common building surfaces, including both porous and non-porous materials in both internal and external applications. Additionally, the adhesive’s distinctive pink colour facilitates easy on-site identification, streamlining the application process.

Whether working on complex installations or routine fixings, Pinkgrip adhesive delivers consistent performance, reducing the need for additional adhesives or fastening methods in many applications. However, despite its versatility, it's important to note that Everbuild Pinkgrip adhesive should not be used on damp surfaces or as a mirror adhesive.

Where is Everbuild Pinkgrip Adhesive Used?

Everbuild Pinkgrip adhesive can be used to replace mechanical fixings in a host of internal projects, including:

  • Interior Fixtures: Bonding dado rails, architraves, and skirting boards for a clean and secure finish.
  • Flooring: Fixing parquet and cork flooring without the need for nails or tacks, ensuring a smooth and even surface.
  • Wall Cladding: Fixing wall cladding directly to internal wall surfaces or timber battens, providing a strong and lasting bond.
  • Battens: Securing battens directly onto walls without additional fastenings, simplifying the installation process.
  • Carpeting: Bonding carpet gripper systems on most floors, offering a secure hold without damaging the flooring.
  • Staircases: Bonding stair nosing to concrete or wooden stairs, ensuring safety and durability.
  • Thresholds: Fixing and bonding wood, polyester, PVCu, or metal thresholds, providing a seamless transition between different flooring types.
  • Accessories: Attaching nameplates, plastic boxes, decorative frames, wall sockets, and junction boxes to most surfaces, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
  • Industrial Applications: Securing aluminium or other skin panels to frameworks, portable industrial buildings, and caravans, ensuring robust and reliable installations.

Everbuild Pinkgrip Adhesive Benefits

  • Enhanced Slump Resistance: Allows quick simple direct bonding, eliminating the need for temporary support.
  • Easy Recognition: The distinctive pink colour ensures the product is easily identifiable on-site, reducing the risk of misapplication.
  • Superior Adhesive Strength: Provides excellent early and ultimate strength on both porous and non-porous surfaces, ensuring long-lasting bonds.
  • Gap Filling: Effectively accommodates uneven surfaces with excellent gap-filling properties, maintaining bond integrity even on imperfect substrates.
Clean Application: Convenient “nip off” qualities prevent messy stringing, ensuring a neat and professional finish.
Versatility: Suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications, offering flexibility in various construction scenarios.
  • Weather Resistant: Excellent external weathering properties make it suitable for outdoor use, maintaining bond strength in varying environmental conditions.
  • Efficiency: Reduces the need for double-stick applications or underpinning in many cases, saving time and materials during installation.

Substrate Preparation

Substrate preparation is crucial for achieving optimal bonding results with Everbuild Pinkgrip adhesive. Follow these steps to ensure surfaces are ready for adhesive application:

  • Cleanliness: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and other contaminants.
  • Drying Time: Allow new concrete or plaster to dry and mature adequately before application. If immediate bonding is necessary, consider using Everbuild Gun A Nail.
  • Priming: For porous or friable surfaces (materials that are easily crumbled, absorbent, or have a rough texture), apply a dilute contact adhesive or PVA primer and allow it to dry completely. This enhances adhesion and ensures a stronger bond.

Everbuild Pinkgrip Application Method / Tools

Achieving the best results with Pinkgrip involves using the correct application methods and tools:

  • Nozzle Preparation: Cut the nozzle at a 45-degree angle cleanly and pierce the membrane before application.
  • Sealant Gun: Use a standard sealant gun for consistent and controlled adhesive dispensing.

Direct Bond Method

The Direct Bond Method is ideal for securing items directly to surfaces without additional fastenings:

  • Adhesive Application: Apply a 6mm bead of Pinkgrip in a zigzag pattern along the length of the item to be fixed.
  • Panel Installation: For panels, place centre beads at a maximum spacing of 350mm.
  • Pressing: Press the item firmly into place, ensuring even pressure across the entire surface.
  • Curing Time: Allow the adhesive to cure for 24-48 hours. For extremely heavy items, provide temporary support during the curing process.
  • Gap Filling: In areas with larger gaps, such as battens against uneven walls, apply a thicker bead of adhesive to accommodate the irregularities.

Double Stick Method

The Double Stick Method enhances adhesive transfer for a more secure bond:

  • Initial Application: Apply adhesive as described in the Direct Bond Method.
  • Pressing: Immediately press the item firmly into position to ensure adequate adhesive transfer.
  • Separation: Gently pull away to facilitate adhesive transfer between surfaces.
  • Drying: Allow the adhesive to dry apart for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Final Positioning: Press the item back into position.
  • Curing Time: Let the adhesive dry for 24 hours before subjecting the bond to traffic or stress.
