Product Overview

Soudal B3 Expanding Foam in a 750ml canister is a one-component polyurethane foam formulated for general-purpose gap filling, sealing, and insulation.

The moisture-curing formula expands upon application to form a stable, rigid structure that adheres to most common building materials, including brick, concrete, timber, plaster, and metal. Designed for non-fire-critical areas, it provides dependable performance in everyday construction and maintenance work.

Once cured, the foam can be cut, sanded, plastered, and painted, allowing precise adjustment and a neat, finished appearance.

Its closed-cell structure ensures resistance to shrinkage or post-expansion, maintaining dimensional stability even when applied overhead. The cured foam contributes to both thermal and acoustic insulation, helping to reduce heat loss and noise transmission through gaps, joints, and cavities.

The 750ml canister includes an integrated application straw, enabling controlled, one-handed use without the need for additional tools. The straw design allows accurate placement and easy operation, making it suitable for quick and efficient site or domestic application.

Features & Benefits

  • Polyurethane Formula: Expands on contact with moisture to create a rigid, durable foam structure suitable for sealing and insulation.
  • Non-Fire-Rated Type: Classified as B3 for use in non-fire-critical construction and maintenance areas.
  • Versatile Finishing: Once cured, the foam can be cut, sanded, plastered, and painted for a clean and finished result.
  • Stable Structure: Maintains shape without shrinkage or post-expansion, ensuring consistent performance in vertical or overhead joints.
  • Thermal and Acoustic Efficiency: Improves energy efficiency and comfort by reducing air leakage and sound transfer.
  • Substrate Compatibility: Adheres to most construction materials except polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
  • Hand-Held Straw Application: Supplied in a 750ml canister with a fixed straw for simple, one-handed use and controlled discharge.

Applications

  • Window and Door Frames: Provides insulated sealing around frame perimeters and structural openings.
  • Wall Cavities: Fills voids between brickwork, blockwork, or partition materials.
  • Roof Construction Openings: Seals penetrations, joints, and roof voids against draught and moisture ingress.
  • Acoustic Insulation: Reduces sound transmission through service gaps and construction joints.
  • Thermal Insulation: Prevents heat loss by sealing gaps in walls, floors, and ceilings.

Installation Guidance

  • Surface Preparation: Clean all surfaces and lightly moisten before application to ensure optimal adhesion.
  • Application: Shake the canister for at least 20 seconds, attach the straw, and apply the foam in controlled layers; avoid overfilling gaps.
  • Curing: Allow foam to fully expand and cure; curing time varies depending on humidity and temperature.
  • Finishing: Once cured, trim excess foam and finish as required by sanding, plastering, or painting.
  • Storage: Store upright in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material Composition: One-component polyurethane prepolymer that cures through atmospheric moisture.
  • Thermal Conductivity: Provides efficient insulation suitable for general building applications.
  • Acoustic Properties: Assists in reducing airborne sound transmission through cavities and joints.
  • Adhesion Quality: Bonds effectively to most building materials including masonry, wood, and metal.
  • Ozone Safety: Contains HCFC- and CFC-free propellants that are not harmful to the ozone layer.
  • Temperature Resistance: Cured foam remains stable from −40 °C to +90 °C.
  • Mechanical Strength: Compressive strength approx. 22 kPa; shear strength approx. 28 kPa; tensile strength approx. 70 kPa (EN 17333).
  • Safety Classification: Non-fire-rated B3 classification; not for use in fire-resistant installations.
  • Important Note: Contains isocyanates; use only in well-ventilated areas and wear appropriate protective equipment during use.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
