Product Overview
Everbuild 506 Contractors PVA in a 5L container is a professional-grade, multi-purpose polyvinyl acetate bonding agent, primer, and adhesive.
Formulated for use on most common building substrates (excluding PVC and rubber) it delivers strong, lasting adhesion across a wide range of construction materials. This versatile compound performs as a primer, sealer, cement admixture, and general-purpose adhesive for both trade and DIY applications.
Used as a primer and sealer, it enhances surface preparation before painting, plastering, or tiling, ensuring improved bond strength and reduced porosity.
When added as a cement or plaster admixture, it increases flexibility, cohesion, and overall mechanical performance, minimizing the risk of cracking or delamination.
As an adhesive, it provides excellent bonding of porous materials such as timber, cork, paper, and textiles, ensuring durable joins and smooth surface finishes.
The 5L capacity makes it particularly suitable for large-scale works, continuous site applications, and ongoing maintenance or renovation projects.
Features & Benefits
- Multi-Purpose Formulation: Acts as primer, sealer, cement admixture, and adhesive, reducing the need for multiple products on site.
- Enhanced Adhesion: Significantly improves bond strength between cementitious, porous, and decorative materials.
- Improved Flexibility: When mixed into mortars and screeds, it increases flexibility and workability while reducing cracking.
- Surface Preparation Aid: Prepares walls, ceilings, and floors for plastering, painting, or tiling, ensuring uniform coverage and finish.
- Dust Sealing Capability: Effectively seals and stabilises dusty or chalky surfaces before further treatment.
- Internal Repair Use: Can be blended with fillers or plaster for patching, smoothing, or surface restoration.
- Easy Application: Ready for immediate use with brush, roller, or spray, allowing quick and efficient coverage.
- Stable Storage Range: Maintains quality when stored between +5 °C and +25 °C in sealed containers.
- Container Size – 5 L: Provides an ample quantity suited to extended or multiple project applications.
Applications
- Bonding Agent: Adheres screeds, renders, and mortars to concrete, brick, and plaster substrates.
- Primer and Sealer: Improves surface grip and reduces suction before plastering, tiling, or painting.
- Cement and Plaster Admixture: Enhances cohesion, strength, and flexibility in cement-based mixes.
- General Adhesive: Bonds wood, cork, paper, and textiles where at least one surface is porous.
- Dust Suppressant: Stabilises friable or flaking interior surfaces prior to finishing.
- Internal Filler Additive: Combines with plaster or wood shavings for repair and levelling work.
Installation Guidance
- Surface Preparation: Ensure all substrates are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust before application.
- Priming: Apply a diluted coat (typically 1 part PVA to 4 parts water) and allow to dry tacky before applying plaster or adhesive layers.
- Admixture Use: Replace part of the mixing water in cement or plaster with Everbuild 506 Contractors PVA to improve adhesion and flexibility.
- Adhesive Application: Apply evenly to both surfaces; press firmly together and allow to cure fully.
- Cleaning: Wash tools and equipment with warm water immediately after use.
Compliance & Performance
- Material Composition: Water-based polyvinyl acetate emulsion with additives to enhance film strength and adhesion.
- Performance Characteristics: Excellent bond integrity, non-toxic when dry, and suitable for interior use on porous materials.
- Temperature Range: Apply and store between +5 °C and +25 °C for optimum performance.
- Compatibility: Not suitable for use with non-porous plastics such as PVC or rubber.
- Shelf Life: Up to 12 months in original, unopened packaging when stored correctly.
- Important Note: Avoid freezing; once frozen, product performance cannot be guaranteed.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
