Product Overview
MOT Type 1 sub-base supplied in a 25kg bag, consisting of crushed granite and limestone aggregate graded from 40mm down to dust.
This compact bag size is easy to handle and store, making it ideal for small repairs, minor paths and bases, or topping up bulk supply.
Features & Benefits
- Clause 803 MOT Type 1 compliance: Approved grading ensures suitability for sub-base applications.
- Crushed aggregate mix (40mm to dust): Compacts tightly to form a dense, stable base.
- Dense interlocking structure: Provides strong load-bearing capacity even in smaller works.
- Convenient bag size (25kg): Easy to carry, transport, and tip manually without lifting equipment.
- Low waste option: Order only the amount needed, reducing surplus on smaller projects.
- Quick site handling: Small bags fit in standard vehicles and are simple to move into restricted areas.
Please Note: Colour may vary naturally between grey and brown. Moisture content affects weight; each bag may vary by ±5%. This is a sub-base material and not intended for decorative use.
Applications
- Small paths and paving repairs: Provides a stable base for localised projects without needing bulk supply.
- Driveway patching: Handy for topping up compacted areas or filling localised depressions.
- Building and shed footings: Suitable for minor bases or levelling small areas.
- Topping up bulk installations: Complements bulk bags when only a little extra material is required.
Installation Guidance
- Compact in thin layers: Achieves maximum density and prevents future settlement.
- Lay over firm, well-drained ground: Ensures the sub-base remains stable and effective.
- Bag handling: 25kg bags can be carried and tipped manually, reducing reliance on lifting equipment.
Compliance & Performance
- Certified MOT Type 1 aggregate (Clause 803, SHW): Manufactured in line with BS EN 13242 for unbound mixtures.
- Service class: Load-bearing sub-base: Suitable for external groundworks in small-scale applications.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
