Product Overview
Everbuild AC50 Trade Acoustic Sealant & Adhesive in a 900ml cartridge is a high-strength, permanently flexible acoustic compound formulated for professional sealing and bonding applications.
Designed for use in dry lining, plasterboard installation, and insulation systems, it provides an effective acoustic barrier that minimises sound transmission through joints, gaps, and voids.
The formulation offers strong initial grab with excellent adhesion to plasterboard, timber, metal studding, and blockwork.
Once cured, it remains flexible to accommodate low to medium movement without cracking or loss of adhesion. The sealant’s white finish allows for direct overpainting once fully cured, combining functionality and a clean, professional appearance.
Features & Benefits
- High strength and flexibility: Forms a durable, permanently elastic joint resistant to cracking or movement.
- Dual performance: Functions effectively as both a sealant and adhesive, simplifying on-site installation.
- Excellent adhesion: Bonds securely to plasterboard, wood, metal studding, and masonry without primer on most substrates.
- Acoustic performance: Provides a reliable sound barrier for walls, floors, and ceilings in partition systems.
- Mould resistant: Resists biological growth in humid or internal environments.
- Non-flammable: Safe for use in a wide range of construction and finishing applications.
- Overpaintable surface: Accepts most conventional paints after full cure for seamless finishing.
- Easy cleanup: Can be cleaned from tools and surfaces with water before curing.
- Size 900ml: Supplied in a large-volume cartridge suitable for high-coverage professional use.
Applications
- Drylining and partitioning: Seals perimeter and abutment gaps in plasterboard systems to enhance acoustic insulation.
- Board bonding: Fixes plasterboard to blockwork, studding, and other common substrates.
- Insulation installation: Bonds kraft-lined and other insulation boards where acoustic and adhesive performance are required.
- Ceiling and floor joints: Seals junctions between boards and other building elements to reduce sound transfer.
- General interior sealing: Suitable for most internal gaps where flexibility and adhesion are needed.
Installation Guidance
- Surface preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or loose coatings. Prime new plaster or porous surfaces with diluted Everbuild PVA Bond (1:4 with water).
- Application method: Insert 900ml cartridge into a 1-litre mastic gun, cut the nozzle to size, and puncture the seal before use.
- As a sealant: Apply to joints slightly overfilled, smooth with a caulking tool or filler knife, and clean excess with a damp cloth within 30 minutes.
- As an adhesive (large areas): Apply a 9–10mm bead at 250–350mm centres, press the board into place, and provide temporary support until cured.
- As an adhesive (studding): Apply a continuous bead to studding, position boards immediately, and support until cured.
- Curing conditions: Allow 1–5 days to cure depending on thickness, temperature, and humidity. Avoid application below +5°C.
Compliance & Performance
- Standards compliance: Independently tested to BS EN ISO 140/3, EN15651-1:2012, and EN13963:2005 for acoustic and sealing performance.
- Hardness: Shore A approximately 40, providing balanced elasticity and surface integrity.
- Elongation at break: 100–200% for movement capability up to ±5%.
- Density: 1.55–1.65 g/cm³, ensuring high body and minimal slump.
- Thermal resistance: Performs between -15°C and +70°C once cured.
- Chemical resistance: Fair resistance to dilute acids, alkalis, and aliphatic hydrocarbons; poor resistance to aromatics.
- Storage life: 12 months in unopened condition when stored cool and frost-free at 5–25°C.
- Important note: Not suitable for use against bituminous materials. Cure time may extend significantly in damp or cold conditions; always ensure adequate ventilation and mechanical support during curing.
