What is 8ft Green Treated Square Top Wooden Fence Post 2400mm x 100mm x 100mm (4" x 4")?

8ft Wooden Fence Post (4' x 4') is ideal for supporting standard UK 1.8m (6ft) high fence panels, allowing for approximately 0.6m (2ft) of the post to be securely embedded into the ground for maximum stability.

The distinctive green tint of the post is a result of a high-pressure treatment process where wood preservatives (copper-based) are forced deep into the timber's cellular structure. This provides crucial, long-term protection against fungal decay (rot) and insect infestation and suits the posts for use in direct soil/fresh water/ground contact.

The simple, clean square-cut top readily accepts post caps or decorative finials, which are ideal for finishing off the post, adding further weather protection to the vulnerable end grain and enhancing the post's visual appeal within a fencing line.

Please Note: The finished size of our wooden posts vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished to 95mm x 95mm. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

Applications

  • Supporting Timber Fence Panels: Ideal for erecting lap panels, featheredge (closeboard) panels, decorative panels, and picket fences up to 1.8m (6ft) in height.
  • Wire Fencing: Creating strong supports for various types of wire mesh fencing, including stock fencing, chicken wire, or welded mesh for animal enclosures or garden boundaries.
  • Chain-Link Fencing: Providing sturdy uprights for chain-link fence installations.
  • Supporting Garden Gates: Suitable as gate posts for light to medium-weight garden gates (heavier gates may require larger section posts or specific hanging posts).
  • Agricultural & Garden Stock Fencing: Can be used with timber rails for creating paddocks or sectioning off garden areas.

Benefits

  • Robust Structural Support: Provides excellent strength and stability for most types of garden fencing up to 1.8m (6ft) high.
  • Long-Lasting Protection: Comprehensively pressure-treated to resist rot, fungal decay, and insect attack, significantly extending the lifespan of your fence.
  • Ideal Length for 6ft Fences: The 2.4m (8ft) length allows for the recommended 0.6m (2ft) in-ground embedment for strong anchorage of 1.8m high panels.
  • Versatile Square Top Finish: Offers a neat, traditional appearance and is ready to accept post caps for additional weather protection or decorative enhancement.
  • Natural Timber Appearance: The treated softwood blends well with garden environments and can be left to weather naturally to a silvery-grey, or stained/painted if desired.
  • Easy to Work With: Softwood is straightforward to cut, drill, and fix using standard woodworking tools and appropriate fixings.
  • Cost-Effective Fencing Solution: Provides a durable and reliable fencing support at an economical price point compared to concrete or metal alternatives.
