Product Overview

Green pressure-treated softwood post, measuring 1800mm (6ft) in length with a 75mm x 75mm (3" x 3") section. The timber is treated under high pressure to resist rot, fungal decay, and insect attack, while the square-cut top allows for post caps or finials.

A lighter-duty post size for domestic fencing, it provides dependable support for fences up to 1.2m (4ft) high, or 0.9m (3ft) panels with a gravel board. The 3x3 section is best suited to sheltered garden locations where wind exposure is limited.

Features & Benefits

  • Pressure-treated softwood: Resists rot, fungal decay, and insect attack.
  • Green tint from treatment: Indicates preservative treatment for external use.
  • Square-cut top: Accepts decorative caps, protects end grain, and gives a neat finish.
  • Natural timber appearance: Can be left to weather naturally or stained/painted if desired.
  • Workable softwood: Easy to cut, drill, and fix using standard tools.
  • Post length 1800mm (6ft): Provides approx. 1200mm height above ground when set 600mm deep, ideal for 4ft fences or 3ft panels with gravel board.
  • Section size 75mm x 75mm (finished approx. 70mm x 70mm): Best suited to sheltered sites where a lighter-duty post is appropriate.

Please Note: The finished size of our wooden posts vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished to 70mm x 70mm. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

Applications

  • Fence panel support: Suitable for fences up to 4ft high or 3ft panels with gravel board.
  • Domestic garden fencing: Best used where posts are shielded from excessive exposure.
  • Panel compatibility: Works with lap, featheredge, closeboard, or decorative styles.
  • Decorative edging: Ideal for low, attractive garden boundaries.

Installation Guidance

  • Ground embedment: Set approx. 600mm (2ft) into the ground for stability.
  • Fixing method: Secure in place with post mix or concrete.
  • End grain protection: Fit post caps or finials to limit water ingress and weathering.

Compliance & Performance

  • Preservative treatment: High-pressure treated for external use, not UC4-rated.
  • Service class: Suitable for domestic fencing; not intended for long-term permanent soil contact.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
