Timber posts are the backbone of any fence. They provide a solid foundation upon which fence panels are fixed and help to keep your fence upright and stable, no matter what the weather throws at it.

Additionally, wooden fence posts can also add a bit of visual interest to your garden. Unlike concrete, their finish is uniform and consistent throughout.

Please Note: The finished size of our wooden posts vary slightly from the nominal dimensions. You can expect to receive timber that is finished to 70mm x 70mm. Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.

8ft Wooden Fence Post 2400mm x 75mm x 75mm (3' x 3')Applications

Wooden fence posts are an essential part of any fence. They provide a solid foundation that the rest of the fence can be built on, and they also help to keep the fence upright and stable.

If you plan to set wooden or concrete posts in concrete you’ll want to get your hands on these 8ft (2.4m) posts for a 6ft (1.828m) fence – to ensure that the posts are 2ft (0.6m) taller than the fence itself.

Additionally, wooden fence posts can also add a bit of visual interest to your fence - after all, they're usually made from different types of wood, which can add a bit of variety and texture to the fence.

Let's take a closer look at its applications:

  • Ideal for all fencing projects
  • Best used in conjunction with 6ft fence panels
  • For use in direct soil or fresh water contact - thanks to the treatment of timber
  • Suitable for use in ground contact

What's The Difference Between Treated Timber And Non-Treated Timber?

Simply put, untreated timber is as it sounds; it is not treated with preservatives or chemicals. This makes it a more "natural" solution.

Treated timber, on the other hand, is treated with chemicals and preservatives to make it last longer and protect it from rot, wear, and pests.

Our treated timber is pressure treated using tanalith e, producing tanalised timber. Dried Timber has been dried to specifically reduce moisture content.

Here at Materials Market, all our timber is treated with preservatives, kiln dried, and then planed all round to give it eased edges that make it easier to handle.
