Product Overview
Green Treated Square Top Wooden Fence Post with a 100mm x 100mm section and 3000mm length. This heavy-duty pressure-treated softwood post is engineered to provide enhanced vertical support for structural fencing systems, particularly where high wind resistance or deeper ground embedment is required. The timber undergoes a high-pressure preservative treatment process to protect the core against fungal decay, insect attack, and rot in external environments.
The 3000mm length is specifically designed to accommodate 6ft High Horizontal Lap Fence Panels or 6ft High Feather Edge Fence Panels while allowing for a significant subterranean foundation. The square-top finish provides a flat surface for the application of decorative caps or finials, which help to shed water away from the end grain. This post is best suited for exposed, high-wind, or heavy-panel residential boundaries, with a specific section size of 100mm x 100mm.
Features & Benefits
- Pressure-treated softwood: Resists rot, fungal decay, and insect attack.
- Green tint from treatment: Indicates preservative treatment for external use.
- Square-cut top: Accepts decorative caps, protects end grain, and gives a neat finish.
- Natural timber appearance: Can be left to weather naturally or stained/painted if desired.
- Workable softwood: Easy to cut, drill, and fix using standard tools.
- Post length 3000mm (10ft): Provides extra length for trellis, multiple gravel boards, or deeper embedment for gates.
- Section size 100mm x 100mm (finished approx. 95mm x 95mm): Standard section size, providing rigid support for gates and exposed fencing.
Please Note: Colour and finish are representative only and may vary slightly as this is a natural product.
Applications
- Fence panel support: 3000mm length provides the necessary burial depth required to support 1.8m (6ft) fence panels in exposed locations.
- Pergola and arbour uprights: Extended length allows for a finished walk-through height of 2.4m when set in concrete foundations.
- Raised bed corner posts: Pressure-treated timber construction provides rot-resistance for use as internal structural supports in sleeper-style garden beds.
- Raised decking supports: 100mm profile serves as vertical stilts for elevated decking subframes on uneven or sloping terrain.
- Agricultural wire fencing: Suitable for high-level wire or deer fencing requiring a finished height exceeding standard domestic boundaries.
Installation Guidance
- Foundation depth: Excavate a hole to a minimum depth of 900mm to 1 metre to ensure one-third of the post is below ground level for stability.
- Post spacing: Set posts at 1830mm intervals when installing standard 6ft panels to ensure a precise fit and minimise timber trimming.
- Concrete securement: Use a rapid-setting postcrete to fill the cavity, ensuring the concrete finishes slightly above ground level with a slope to shed water.
- Vertical alignment: Utilise a post level on two adjacent faces during the curing process to ensure the timber remains perfectly plumb.
- Cut-end treatment: Apply a proprietary end-grain preservative to any surfaces cut during installation to maintain the integrity of the treatment.
- Panel fixing: Secure panels to the post using galvanised nails or specialised fence clips to prevent rust-staining and mechanical failure.
Compliance & Performance
- Preservative treatment: High-pressure treated for external use, not UC4-rated.
- Service class: Suitable for domestic fencing; not intended for long-term permanent soil contact.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
