What Is 50mm Kingspan Kooltherm K112 Framing Board?
50mm Kingspan Kooltherm K112 Framing Board is a high-performance insulation solution for timber and steel frame wall construction.
With a core of fibre-free thermoset phenolic insulation, it outperforms many other commonly used insulation boards in terms of thermal efficiency, with a thermal conductivity of just 0.019 W/mK across all thicknesses.
Kooltherm K112 is purpose-built for installation between studwork in both new construction and refurbishment projects. Whether you're working with timber or steel frame systems, it fits seamlessly into a variety of applications. It can also be used externally as sheathing insulation in framed wall designs.
Each board comes with a low emissivity foil facing on both sides. This helps reduce air movement through the wall and slows down water vapour passing through.
With dimensions of 2400mm by 1200mm, the boards cover a wide area, helping to speed up the installation process and reduce waste on site.
Kingspan manufactures Kooltherm K112 under a strict quality framework. The product is certified to internationally recognised standards: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management), ISO 37301:2021 (Compliance), ISO 45001:2018 (Health and Safety), and ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management).
Applications
Heat loss through walls can account for up to 35% of a home's total energy loss. That makes wall insulation one of the smartest upgrades a homeowner or developer can make. Kooltherm K112 is designed for precisely this - improving energy performance in wall systems with minimal thickness.
Use it in:
- Timber-framed internal or external walls
- Steel frame wall constructions
- Domestic housing and commercial buildings
- New builds or retrofit upgrades
Benefits
- Excellent thermal performance - thermal conductivity of just 0.019 W/mK
- Simple to cut, lift, and install - especially when compared to some other commonly used insulants
- Works with both timber and steel framing systems
- Foil facings enhance thermal resistance and help prevent air leakage
- Performs well in damp environments - resists moisture and water vapour
- Ideal for use in both new build and upgrade projects
- Strong and durable - compressive strength of 100 kPa
Tips for Cutting Kooltherm K112
While the boards are sized for easy coverage, you may still need to trim them to fit awkward areas or around fixtures. Here’s how to do it safely and neatly:
- Always wear gloves and safety goggles before starting
- Use a straight edge to mark a guideline
- Score the board first, then follow with a fine-toothed saw for a clean, controlled cut

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
