Product Overview

Kingspan Kooltherm K112 Framing Insulation Board with a 60mm thickness. This rigid phenolic insulation board is designed for timber and steel framing systems. It provides high thermal performance in stud wall assemblies where space-saving insulation is required.

The fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic core offers consistent thermal behaviour and long-term stability within framed wall structures. Both faces are finished with a low-emissivity composite foil to improve thermal resistance when installed adjacent to an air space.

KK12 is suited for use between studs or as an insulating sheathing layer in new build and refurbishment framing applications. The 60mm board is suited to standard framing depths used in typical timber and steel stud walls.

Features & Benefits

  • High thermal efficiency: Delivers a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/m·K to support strong insulation performance in framed wall systems.
  • Rigid phenolic core: Provides a fibre-free thermoset composition for reliable durability and dimensional stability in service.
  • Low-emissivity foil facings: Enhances thermal resistance when installed with adjacent air spaces to reduce heat transfer in wall assemblies.
  • Versatile framing suitability: Can be used between studs or as sheathing to accommodate different timber or steel frame layouts.
  • Unaffected by air infiltration: Maintains insulation integrity without performance reduction caused by air movement.
  • Water vapour resistance: Offers resistance to the passage of water vapour to support stable in-wall moisture control.
  • Ease of handling: Lightweight construction allows straightforward cutting, positioning, and fitting on site.
  • Refurbishment compatibility: Suitable for both new build and upgrade projects where improved framed-wall efficiency is required.
  • Environmental performance: Manufactured with a blowing agent featuring zero ODP and low GWP to reduce environmental impact.
  • Board dimensions: Supplied in 2400mm × 1200mm boards for coverage efficiency in framing layouts
  • Thickness suitability: 60mm suited to general-purpose stud cavities in conventional framed wall layouts.

Applications

  • Timber frame walls: Used within timber stud systems to provide high-performance insulation between or over framing members.
  • Steel frame walls: Suitable for insulated sheathing or between-stud placement in light-gauge steel framing.
  • Sheathing insulation: Applied externally to studs to reduce thermal bridging and improve overall wall performance.
  • Internal stud partitions: Supports thermal upgrade works where enhanced insulation is required within partition walls.

Installation Guidance

  • Cutting preparation: Prepare cuts in a clear workspace using protective gloves and eye protection.
  • Marking the board: Score a shallow reference line with a utility knife along a straight edge for cutting accuracy.
  • Forming the cut: Use a fine-toothed saw to follow the scored line and produce a clean, controlled cut through the board.
  • Fitting in framing: Position the board securely between or over studs, ensuring tight joints for effective thermal continuity.

Compliance & Performance

  • Thermal performance: Achieves a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/m·K for efficient insulation within framing systems.
  • Environmental standards: Manufactured with a blowing agent featuring zero ODP and low GWP for reduced environmental impact.
  • Management systems: Produced under certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001, and ISO 50001 to ensure quality, environmental control, occupational safety, and energy efficiency.
  • Material status: Classified as a non-deleterious material suitable for use in framed construction assemblies.
  • Important note: Always follow the manufacturer’s installation guidance and site safety procedures when cutting and fitting insulation boards.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
