Product Overview

Insulated plasterboard, measuring 52.5mm in overall thickness for use on internal walls and ceilings.

Manufactured as part of the PL4000 range, it combines a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core with a 12.5mm tapered-edge plasterboard lining. This dual-purpose construction improves thermal performance while providing a surface that is ready for direct decoration.

The PIR layer is faced with foil to enhance insulation and act as a vapour control barrier, reducing heat loss and helping to manage moisture within the building fabric.

The bonded plasterboard eliminates the need for a separate lining, saving time on site and ensuring a neat internal finish.

At 52.5mm thick (40mm PIR plus 12.5mm plasterboard), the board provides an effective upgrade in insulation performance, making it suitable for projects that need stronger thermal efficiency while still keeping internal build-ups relatively slim.

Features & Benefits

  • 2-in-1 board (insulation + plasterboard): Speeds up installation by combining thermal lining and finishing in a single sheet.
  • PIR insulation core (0.022 W/m·K): Reduces heat loss while limiting required build-up depth.
  • Tapered edge plasterboard: Allows for neat jointing, skim finishing, and a paint-ready surface.
  • Inbuilt vapour control layer: Provides moisture resistance and helps limit condensation risk.
  • Lightweight but rigid: Easy to cut, handle, and install with standard tools.
  • Environmental credentials: Zero ODP, low GWP blowing agent, and BRE Green Guide Rating A+.
  • BBA certified (16/5357): Approved for use in roofs and internal wall applications.
  • Board size 2400 x 1200mm: Standard plasterboard dimensions minimise joints and speed coverage.
  • Thickness 52.5mm (40mm + 12.5mm): Suitable for thermal upgrades with minimal impact on room size.

Applications

  • Solid masonry walls: Upgrading thermal performance with a drylined finish.
  • Roofs (pitched/flat): Used as the underneath layer of insulation between or under rafters and joists.
  • Timber frame lining: Provides thermal lining and ready-to-finish surfaces in frame constructions.
  • Internal wall and ceiling linings: Fast, efficient upgrade in both new-build and refurbishment projects.

Installation Guidance

  • Fixing options: Suitable for dot-and-dab adhesive bonding or mechanical fixings.
  • Joint treatment: Use joint tape and compound at tapered edges for a smooth finish.
  • Cutting and handling: Score and snap plasterboard; use fine-toothed saw for PIR core; handle with care to avoid edge damage.
  • Moisture precautions: Store flat, dry, and covered; protect from prolonged sunlight or damp before installation.

Compliance & Performance

  • Thermal conductivity: 0.022 W/m·K (PIR insulation).
  • Reaction to fire: Euroclass B-s1, d0 (BS EN 13501-1).
  • Compressive strength: ≥120 kPa (BS EN 826).
  • Environmental performance: Zero ODP, low GWP, BRE Green Guide Rating A+.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
