How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview
C24 strength-graded structural softwood, kiln-dried, regularised, and treated for demanding applications in large-span floors, load-intensive roofs, and primary structural beams.
200mm width in a 6m length carries heavier imposed loads in floors and decking, reducing bounce and movement across wide structural spans with consistent stability.
Features & Benefits
- Strength grading (C24): Higher density and stiffness than C16, suitable for demanding load-bearing roles.
- Factory applied preservative treatment: Protects timber in typical above-ground conditions when installed properly.
- Kiln-dried & regularised: Helps control shrinkage and ensures even sizing for accurate work.
- Eased edges: Safer handling and a cleaner finish with reduced splinter risk.
- Sawn face texture: Provides a stable key for membranes, adhesives, and coatings.
- Easy to work: Accepts nails, screws, bolts, and hangers.
- Length - 6m: Provides maximum coverage across wide spans with minimal joints.
- 200mm width: Extra-deep section maximises load capacity and reduces deflection.
- Section size - 47mm x 200mm (8" x 2"): Used for structural work where strength and stiffness are essential.
Please Note: Timber may be supplied with engineered finger-joints. Engineered timber has a glue line that is stronger than the timber itself; it also has all defects and knots removed. This makes engineered timber 60% stronger than its solid timber alternatives.
Applications
- Floor joists and trimmers: Provides high stiffness and load capacity for domestic and commercial floors.
- Stud walls and plates: Forms robust frameworks in heavy-duty load-bearing walls.
- Roof members: Suitable for rafters, purlins, and ceiling joists in compact but load-intensive roofs.
Installation Guidance
- Respect span limits: Only use within the limits of the specified grade.
- Use compatible fixings and hangers: Exterior-rated and suitable for treated timber.
- End-grain protection: Seal all cut ends and notches with a suitable end-grain preservative product to maintain treatment integrity.
Compliance & Performance
- Strength grading: C24 to BS EN 14081 / EN 338.
- Service conditions: Suitable for dry internal or covered external use (above ground).
- Preservative treatment (Tanalith ‘E’): Pressure treatment provides resistance against fungal decay and insect attack.
- Dimensional tolerance: Finished sizes typically arrive slightly under nominal, often around 2mm less in thickness and 5mm less in width.
- Natural variation: Colour and surface appearance vary naturally and by treatment batch.
- Moisture disclaimer: Treated Timber is often stored outside and if it has recently been raining then the timber may arrive wet; this does not affect the integrity of the timber.
