Product Overview

A252 reinforcement mesh with 8mm high-tensile bars set at 200mm centres, for medium-duty concrete reinforcement.

A252 is a standard BS 4483 mesh (252g per m²) designed to provide reliable reinforcement in slabs, floors, and walls with depths ranging between 150mm and 200mm.

When placed on spacers or chairs and embedded within freshly poured concrete, the mesh bonds with the curing material to create a composite structure.

By distributing both compressive and tensile stresses, it improves rigidity, reduces cracking, and ensures even load distribution across moderate load-bearing applications.

Each sheet measures 2000mm x 3600mm, providing convenient handling while maintaining full reinforcement coverage. For continuity of reinforcement, sheets should be overlapped by at least one square (200mm) and tied securely with wire.

Features & Benefits

  • A252 designation: Indicates a nominal weight of 252g/m², defining it as a medium-duty mesh suitable for concrete reinforcement.
  • High tensile steel construction: Improves resistance to cracking, structural movement, and load stresses.
  • Bonds with curing concrete: Creates a composite material that distributes stresses effectively.
  • Resistance welded intersections: Enhances strength and durability at every joint.
  • Medium-duty reinforcement format: Provides strength for slabs, floors, and walls in domestic, commercial, and light industrial applications.
  • 8mm diameter reinforcement: Suitable for slabs and walls between 150mm and 200mm thick.
  • 2000mm x 3600mm sheet size: Practical dimensions for site handling while maintaining reinforcement coverage.

Applications

  • Concrete slabs (150–200mm thick): Provides effective reinforcement for medium-duty slabs, preventing shrinkage cracking and improving load-bearing capacity.
  • Domestic foundations and floors: Suitable for garages, driveways, and house floors requiring greater strength than light-duty meshes.
  • Commercial flooring systems: Reinforces slabs in offices, retail units, and public buildings subject to moderate loading.
  • Light industrial applications: Used in workshops, factories, and storage areas with medium load demands.
  • Reinforced walls and retaining structures: Improves tensile performance and long-term durability in medium-scale wall construction.

Installation Guidance

  • Place on supports: Position mesh correctly within the slab depth for effective reinforcement.
  • Tie overlaps: Secure adjoining sheets to maintain continuity and prevent displacement.
  • Maintain cover: Ensure adequate concrete cover to protect against corrosion and maintain compliance.

Compliance & Performance

  • High tensile reinforcement steel: Manufactured to BS 4483:2005 specifications.
  • Meets BS 4449:2005 standards: Ensures compliance for reinforcement steel.
  • Fully CE-certified: Approved for use in reinforced concrete applications.
  • Resistance welded intersections: Guarantees strength and durability throughout the mesh.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
