Product Description
Utilising D49 wrapping mesh in cementitious screed can be crucial to alleviating cracking and shrinkage.
Notoriously, when drying, screeds are prone to shrinking and curling which then leads them to crack.
However, D49 mesh works its magic by repelling any stress impact that could cause micro-cracks; ultimately avoiding larger cracks by cushioning the stress that the screed endures during its curing process.
Using D49 Mesh does not completely eliminate the risk of cracking in your screed, but it does reduce it. On the other hand, not using reinforcement or laying the screed in small bays greatly increases the likelihood of cracking.
D49 Mesh Applications
D49 is suitable for many different concrete applications such as reinforcing concrete structures and other structures including:
- Unbonded or floating screed
- Screeding
- Concrete slabs
Here at Materials Market, we stock a wide variety of concrete reinforcement mesh at competitive prices to assist you in any concreting project. From D49 Steel Reinforcement Mesh 4.8m x 2.4m to A142 Steel Reinforcement Mesh, we've got you covered.

How Does D49 Mesh Work?
The reinforcement mesh distributes stress evenly across the screed to minimise any risks of curling or shrinking when laid over joints.
Reinforcing screed with D49 Mesh will not only boost compression quality but also improve flexural strength and expand its 'bending moment.'
The bending moment is the point at which external pressure forces a bend in the screed. With this reinforcement method, you can be sure that your project has been fortified to withstand undue structural stress.
