Insulation may sound quite technical, but making your home more heat-savvy can be as simple as buying this Kingspan GreenGuard 60mm 300kpa board.

60mm Kingspan GreenGuard is a high performance rigid extruded polystyrene insulation board. It offers thermal conductivities as low as 0.034 W/mK, and is used to insulate inverted roofs, basements, car park decks, and heavy-duty commercial, industrial and cold store flooring.

With a whopping compressive strength of 300kPa and a closed cell structure which resists ground moisture penetration and the passage of water vapour, you can insulate with confidence and assurance of quality. Great builds start with great materials.

Durable, dependable and exclusively designed for your floors and roofs, Kingspan Greenguard GG300 is a market-tested and user-trusted polystyrene insulation board, with a high performance fibre-free rigid extruded polystyrene core that boasts a smooth, dense skin on both faces. It is tough when it comes to insulation yet gentle when it comes to the environment, as the blowing agent used to manufacture it has zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential).

The GreenGuard GG300 XPS Board manufacturing process is ultimately CFC/HCFC free in its promise of zero Ozone Depletion Potential which may come as a relief to the environmentally conscious amongst you. For the record, the release of HCFCs and CFCs can have serious environmental consequences as they can trap heat within the atmosphere.

HCFCs therefore contribute to Global Warming (through "the Greenhouse Effect"), which, thank god, you don't need to worry about with this Low Global Warming Potential board. Another benefit of Kingspan Greenguard GG300 XPS is that it has a closed cell structure, which makes it water vapour and moisture resistant and also means it's unaffected by air infiltration, thus improving the thermal performance of the entire construction.

With a thermal conductivity as low as 0.034 W/mK, Greenguard insulation boards offer excellent energy saving benefits. The board's resistance to moisture also ensures its performance is unaffected by the effects of freeze-thaw cycling.

The board's resistance abilities do not stop there, however. As an added bonus, Kingspan GreenGuard does not provide any food value to vermin and is not normally attractive to them, meaning less chance of rodents (and those squeaking and scurrying sounds coming from the walls). Also, due to its synthetic composition, Greenguard holds up well in its ability to resist insects, fungus, mould, or mildew.

Kingspan Greenguard GG300 Board Applications

High performance rigid extruded polystyrene insulation (XPS) has the necessary compressive strength to make it the product of choice for specialist applications such as heavy-duty flooring, car park decks and inverted roofing. It can be used almost anywhere due to its flexibility in thickness; ranging from 30mm to 140mm. When it comes to basement flooring or installation below a floor screed, insulation boards should always be loose-laid breakbonded, with the joints lightly butted.

Insulation Storage & Handling

High performance rigid extruded polystyrene insulation is both safe and easy to install thanks to its non–fibrous makeup. Cutting should be carried out either by using a fine toothed saw, or by scoring with a sharp knife, snapping the board over a straight edge and then cutting the facing on the other side. Ensure accurate trimming to achieve close–butting joints and continuity of insulation.

Boards are supplied in recyclable polyethylene packaging for short-term protection. We advise that you store them indoors. As we know that's not always possible, our rule of thumb when it comes to storing outdoors is that the boards should not be stored on the ground. Instead pop them on a level surface and under a protective cover, such as an opaque polythene sheet or weatherproof tarpaulin.
