Product Overview

Kingspan Thermaroof TR27 Flat Roof Insulation Board measuring 50mm thick and 1200mm x 1200mm in size. High-performance rigid insulation board designed for use on flat roofs waterproofed with fully adhered, mechanically fixed, or ballasted single-ply, bituminous, or mastic asphalt membranes.

Manufactured from rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core, the board delivers excellent thermal efficiency with minimal thickness, achieving reliable long-term performance and dimensional stability.

Faced on both sides with a tough, thermoset-coated glass tissue, it provides enhanced adhesion, mechanical strength, and compatibility with a wide range of roofing systems.

Lightweight yet rigid, the board simplifies handling and installation on site while ensuring uniform insulation coverage across large roof areas.

The 50mm thickness offers basic thermal upgrade without significantly increasing overall build-up height.

Features & Benefits

  • High thermal efficiency: PIR insulation core provides superior thermal resistance, reducing heat loss through the roof structure.
  • Robust facing: Coated glass tissue facings enhance durability, adhesion, and mechanical performance.
  • Lightweight design: Easy to lift and position on site, improving installation speed and safety.
  • Moisture resistance: Closed-cell structure resists water ingress and maintains insulation integrity.
  • Compatibility: Suitable for use with fully adhered, mechanically fixed, or ballasted flat roof systems.
  • Thickness: 50mm board suitable for standard warm roof systems requiring balanced insulation performance.

Applications

  • Flat roofs: Designed for use beneath bituminous, single-ply, or mastic asphalt waterproofing systems.
  • Overlay projects: Suitable for thermal upgrading of existing roofs with limited height tolerance.
  • Commercial buildings: Ideal for insulated warm roof systems in offices, schools, and retail units.
  • Industrial units: Used on metal deck and concrete substrates where high compressive strength is required.

Installation Guidance

  • Prepare substrate: Ensure the deck is clean, dry, and free from contaminants before installation.
  • Lay boards in brick bond: Stagger joints and fit tightly to minimise thermal bridging.
  • Fix securely: Adhere or mechanically fix in accordance with the roofing system specification.
  • Seal joints: Apply appropriate tape or sealant where specified to maintain insulation continuity.
  • Protect from exposure: Cover promptly with the chosen waterproofing membrane after installation.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Rigid thermoset polyisocyanurate (PIR) core with coated glass tissue facings on both sides.
  • Thermal conductivity: As low as 0.024 W/m·K, delivering high thermal efficiency at minimal thickness.
  • Compressive strength: Typically exceeds 150 kPa at 10% compression, suitable for foot traffic during installation.
  • Water vapour resistance: Resistant to the passage of water vapour, maintaining insulation integrity under humid conditions.
  • Membrane compatibility: Fully compatible with single-ply non-bituminous membranes bonded with solvent-based adhesives, and with most bituminous, mastic asphalt, and cold liquid-applied waterproofing systems.
  • Fire and insurance approvals: LPCB approved to LPS 1181: Part 1 and FM approved for Class 1 steel deck roof assemblies.
  • Environmental performance: Non-deleterious material manufactured with a blowing agent that has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
  • Vapour control requirement: Should be installed over an appropriate vapour control layer in accordance with project-specific condensation risk and U-value calculations.
  • Standards compliance: Produced under ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Important note: Boards must be protected from weather exposure prior to waterproofing installation and handled in accordance with Kingspan installation guidance.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
