Product Overview

20mm golden gravel produced from natural flint and quartz aggregates.

Screened to a nominal 20mm size, these rounded chippings provide durable coverage for driveways, soakaways, and decorative landscaping, with a coarse, open structure that allows water to drain freely.

Golden gravel combines warm yellows with deeper amber and ochre highlights to deliver a decorative surface that contrasts beautifully with planting, paving, or timber.

Its appearance changes with conditions - lighter and understated in dry weather, then darker and more vibrant after rain - bringing depth and movement to landscaped areas.

As a durable mineral aggregate, this gravel withstands frost and rain, will not rot or decompose, and needs only occasional raking or top-ups to keep its appearance.

Features & Benefits

  • Warm golden tones: Creates a natural, textured look that complements driveways, rockeries, and drainage features.
  • Natural colour variation: Subtle mix of yellow, amber, and ochre creates visual depth.
  • Rounded flint composition: Smooth texture is easy to spread and comfortable underfoot.
  • Free-draining aggregate: Supports natural drainage and reduces the risk of surface water pooling.
  • Durable natural stone: Withstands weather cycles, including frost and heavy rainfall, without breaking down.
  • Weed suppression with membrane: Reduces regrowth when laid over a permeable geotextile.
  • Low-maintenance surface: Requires only periodic raking and occasional top-ups to retain appearance.
  • 20mm nominal size: Provides a robust, long-lasting surface ideal for driveways, drainage, and decorative cover.
  • Cost-effective in bulk: Bulk bags reduce cost per m² compared with smaller pack sizes.

Applications

  • Driveways: Offers a robust, decorative surface suitable for light vehicle traffic.
  • Informal garden paths: Creates a natural, free-draining walkway suited to landscaped areas.
  • Rockeries and garden beds: Highlights planting and stone features with added colour contrast.
  • Drainage solutions: Coarse grade performs well in soakaways and other free-draining installations.

Installation Guidance

  • Prepare and level the base: Remove vegetation, stones, and debris, firming the ground to reduce later sinking.
  • Install edging restraints: Use boards, metal strips, or kerbs to prevent migration and keep paths neat.
  • Lay permeable weed membrane: Blocks light to minimise weed growth while allowing water to drain freely.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Natural flint and quartz gravel, rounded form, 20mm nominal size, with inherent colour variation.
  • Performance characteristics: Free-draining, frost-resistant decorative aggregate suitable for landscaping and driveway applications.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
