Why Soundshield?
- Knauf Soundshield Plus offers a more dense, robust, and effective solution for noise control compared to the Sound Panel, particularly in environments where superior sound reduction, fire protection, and durability are required.
- Unlike standard plasterboard, Soundshield Plus has a higher mass and density, which significantly enhances its acoustic performance and suits it to spaces requiring advanced noise control, such as offices, conference rooms, hospitals, schools, and high-traffic public areas.
- The board features an aerated gypsum core combined with premium paper liners on both sides, contributing to its strength and durability.
- It also offers a smooth surface that is ready for finishing with Knauf Jointing Products or Ready Mix Spray Finish.
Knauf Soundshield is not recommended for areas of high humidity, as prolonged exposure to moisture may compromise its performance and integrity. For high-humidity environments, use moisture-resistant alternatives like Knauf Moisture Panel.
Why 12.5mm?
- 12.5mm plasterboard is the standard thickness for most construction projects, offering a balanced combination of strength, durability, and ease of installation for general wall and ceiling applications.
- It provides better structural integrity and sound insulation than the lighter 9.5mm board, while being less bulky than the thicker 15mm option. However, unless specified as a performance board, it should not be relied upon as a standalone solution for soundproofing.
Why Tapered Edge?
- Tapered-edge plasterboard features sloped edges that create a recess when joined, making applying joint tape and compound easier for a smooth, paint-ready finish.
- It minimises visible seams and reduces the amount of joint compound needed, making it ideal for aesthetic-focused projects like walls, ceilings, and partitions.
Why 2700mm x 1200mm?
- 2700mm x 1200mm plasterboard is slightly larger than the standard 2400mm size, making it ideal for taller walls and ceilings, especially those exceeding the standard 2.4m height.
- Its increased length reduces the need for horizontal joints, which is particularly beneficial in installations that require a seamless look.
- The larger dimensions also minimise the number of cuts and seams during installation, resulting in a smoother finish and faster completion.
