What is Klober Permo Air Breather Membrane?
Klober Permo Air Breather Membrane (Permo Air 160) is a key product in Klober's highly regarded Specialist Membrane range, which is renowned for providing exceptional breathability in roofing applications. As Klober’s most breathable membrane and best-selling roof underlay, Permo Air 160 is specifically engineered for pitched roofs, offering a low-resistance, air-permeable solution to moisture management.
The membrane features an Sd value (water vapour transmission resistance) of just 0.009 metres, one of the lowest in the industry. The Sd value is a key indicator of a membrane’s breathability - the lower the value, the more effectively water vapour can pass through the material. With its exceptionally low Sd value, Permo Air 160 allows water vapour to diffuse freely, ensuring that moisture levels within the roof space are carefully regulated. This helps to prevent the build-up of condensation, which could otherwise lead to moisture accumulation, potential roof damage, and the growth of mould. This is especially important during the critical drying-out period of new builds when excess moisture is most likely to get trapped within the structure.

- BBA Certification Compliance: Permo Air 160 should be installed following the details set out in the BBA Certificate and in accordance with BS5534 standards.
- Correct Drape: Ensure the membrane has a maximum drape of 15mm between rafters to allow proper drainage of water.
- Avoid Contact with Roof Covering: During installation and after, the membrane should not come into direct contact with the roof covering.
- Use of Underlay Support Tray: At the eaves, an underlay support tray should be installed to prevent ponding behind the fascia board and allow for proper drainage into the gutter.
