Product Overview

Blue Circle General Purpose Grey Cement supplied in a 25kg paper bag, classified as CEM II/A-L 32,5R under BS EN 197-1.

This Portland-composite cement contains clinker blended with 6-20% finely ground limestone to improve workability and sustainability.

It develops rapid early strength and achieves 32.5 MPa (compressive strength, measured in megapascals) after 28 days, delivering the durability and reliability needed across concrete, mortar, screed, and render applications.

You can also buy Blue Circle general purpose cement on a pallet of 60 bags.

Features & Benefits

  • CEM II blended cement: Contains Portland clinker and limestone, improving sustainability by cutting clinker use and enhancing mortar and concrete workability.
  • Rapid early strength (R): Gains strength faster than standard 32,5N cements, supporting quicker progression on site.
  • Strength class 32,5: Achieves 32.5 MPa (compressive strength, measured in megapascals) after 28 days for reliable structural performance.
  • Grey powder form: Neutral finish that blends smoothly into concretes, mortars, and screeds.
  • Compatible with admixtures: Works effectively with plasticisers, pigments, and air-entraining agents.
  • Versatile use: Suitable for bricklaying, rendering, screeds, repairs, and concrete production.
  • 25kg bag format: Practical size for site handling, storage, and transport.
  • Certified performance: Meets all BS EN 197-1 conformity criteria and CE marked for assured quality.

Please Note: Shelf life is up to three months when stored correctly in a cool, dry place and sealed against moisture ingress. Trial mixes are recommended to establish optimal mix proportions for specific applications.

Applications

  • Bricklaying and blockwork: Produces reliable mortar for masonry construction.
  • Rendering and plastering: Forms smooth, durable render coats for internal or external walls.
  • Floor screeds and repairs: Provides stable, level surfaces and patching mixes.
  • Concrete and grout mixes: Suitable for foundations, footings, and general concreting tasks.

Installation Guidance

  • Mix accurately with aggregates and water: Ensure correct ratios depending on application.
  • Use within working time: Avoid re-tempering cement mixes once setting begins.
  • Store correctly: Keep bags sealed, dry, and off the ground to maximise shelf life and maintain performance.

Compliance & Performance

  • BS EN 197-1 classification: CEM II/A-L 32,5R, with rapid early strength development and 28-day strength of 32.5 MPa (compressive strength, measured in megapascals).
  • Classification detail:
    • CEM II: Blended cement containing clinker plus other materials (limestone).
    • A: Category A, with 6–20% secondary material.
    • L: Limestone as the additional material.
    • 32,5: Strength class, achieving 32.5 MPa (compressive strength, measured in megapascals) at 28 days.
    • R: Rapid early strength, faster curing than 32,5N.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
