What Is RWA45 50mm?

50mm Rockwool RWA45 Acoustic Insulation is a multi-application thermal, acoustic and fire insulation slab.

Made from robust mineral wool insulation, it is purposed to minimise the noise in your home, as well as a wide variety of general building projects - from residential extensions to refurbishment builds.

With a density of 45kg/m3, these acoustic insulation slabs do an incredible job of soundproofing, making them especially ideal for use in separating floors and internal walls.

What's more, these high-quality resin bonded slabs are cut to 1200mm x 600mm, which allows them to slot perfectly between standard stud partitions and floor joists that are at 600mm centres.

50mm Rockwool RWA45 slab is rated as A1 non-combustible in accordance with BS EN 13501-1, achieving the highest possible level of fire resistance and reducing fire spread within your project.

Where Is RWA45 50mm Used?

  • Interior timber or steel partition walls
  • Interior timber frame floors
  • Interior timber frame ceilings
  • Acoustic ceilings and partition panels
  • I-joist interior partitions
  • Party walls
  • Industrial applications

RWA45 50mm Benefits

  • Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) and Zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP)
  • Rot-resistant - withstands mould and mildew
  • Absorbs sound waves and reduces vibration
  • Thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK
  • Hydrophobic - water repellent qualities of insulation prevent moisture decay and rot
  • Excellent thermal, acoustic and fire insulation
  • Resists high temperatures - able to withstand temperatures of over 1,000°C

RWA45 50mm Certifications

BS EN is British and European Standard Specifications. With over 100 years of experience, the British Standards Institute is recognised as the UK’s National standards body. BS EN considers Rockwool both:

  • Fire classification: A1 non-combustible in accordance with BS EN 13501-1 - achieving the highest possible level of fire performance
  • CE and Key marked in accordance with BS EN 13162:2012 + A1:2015.v

50mm Rockwool slabs are also certified by Lloyd's register of shipping as non-combustible materials for use on:

  • Fixed offshore installations
  • MED classed ships- DTLR MCA approval
  • Rated non-combustible in accordance with ISO 1182 and IMO A. 799

RWA45 50mm Storage & Handling

RWA45 50mm is a durable insulation solution which is hassle-free when it comes to cutting so you can get the best fit possible in all situations.

With a soft, fibrous texture, slicing through is effortless with a serrated blade. For optimal preservation, store the slabs indoors to maintain dryness.

RWA45 50mm Acoustic Performance

Rockwool thermal and acoustic insulation slab is best known for its excellent acoustic performance.

RWA45 50mm slabs work in two distinct ways to dampen sound, either by impeding the transmission of sound through an element of the structure or by absorption of sound at the surface.

Its higher density and non-directional fibre orientation trap sound waves and deaden sound vibrations like no other insulation on the market. The open-porous structure of the fibres in RWA45 slabs grants them their incredible sound-absorbing performance, with characteristically high coefficients over a wide frequency range.

About Rockwool

Rockwool is recognised as being the market-leading acoustic insulation solution. The Rockwool sound insulation slab range offers outstanding fire, acoustic and thermal insulation properties as well as lifelong durability.  The product range consists of high-quality resin bonded slabs in a variety of thicknesses and densities.

Rockwool RW slab products, either un-faced or with an aluminium foil or glass fleece on one or both surfaces, achieve an A1 classification in accordance with BS EN 13501-1 and thus meet the requirements of non-combustible materials, as defined in UK and Ireland Building Regulations.

The team at Materials Market offered an extensive product range and I chose this after learning RW5 had a later delivery date. The RWA45 is great at preventing sound waves.

Slava Pavlovich on

This rockwool insulation was great at absorbing all the sounds from the neighbours. It's a mineral wool insulation so also non-combustible. Can sleep safely at night knowing it's not a fire hazard.

Stacey Adams on

Does exactly what it's suppose to do, reduce the noise from my kitchen!
