Product Overview
Stone wool insulation slab, 50mm thick and cut to 1200 × 600mm, developed for demanding acoustic and fire-rated constructions.
With a density of 100 kg/m³, the slab offers a robust balance of rigidity and sound absorption. The added mass helps to block airborne noise transfer, while the dense fibre structure absorbs sound within the cavity, improving acoustic comfort across partitions, floors, and ceilings.
This higher density also gives the slab excellent dimensional stability, supporting structural integrity and ensuring it holds its shape once installed.
Its semi-rigid form allows for a friction fit that minimises air gaps and maintains consistent performance.
Classified as non-combustible, the slab provides reliable fire resistance, contributing to enhanced safety within the building fabric.
At 50mm thick, this slab offers an effective balance between acoustic control and build-up depth. Its density provides meaningful airborne noise reduction without the weight or space requirements of thicker slabs.
Features & Benefits
- A1 non-combustible fire rating (BS EN 13501-1): Meets UK and Ireland Building Regulations for non-combustible materials.
- Stone wool material: Naturally resists rot, fungal decay, and insect attack for long-term durability.
- 100kg/m³ density: Rigid and stable, providing maximum sound absorption and secure fitting.
- Semi-rigid slab format: Installs neatly between studs, joists, and rafters.
- Open-fibre structure: Provides excellent sound absorption for reduced noise transfer.
- Easily cut to size: Allows straightforward installation around services and fixtures.
- Slab size 1200 x 600mm: Standard board dimensions suit common stud spacings.
- 50mm thickness: Well suited to projects requiring enhanced acoustic insulation in a moderate build-up.
Applications
- Stud partitions: Enhances acoustic separation between rooms to meet Approved Document E standards.
- Ceilings: Improves airborne sound insulation in shallow ceiling voids.
- Floors: Adds effective acoustic performance to timber floors.
- Separation walls: Provides fire safety and sound absorption in dividing walls.
Installation Guidance
- Friction fit between studs/joists: Ensures slabs stay securely in place without gaps.
- Cut with insulation saw or knife: Achieves accurate fitting around pipes, sockets, and structural details
- Protect from moisture during install: Maintain insulation performance by keeping slabs dry until enclosed.
Compliance & Performance
- Euroclass A1 non-combustible (BS EN 13501-1): Complies with Building Regulations requirements for non-combustible materials.
- CE marked to BS EN 13162: Factory-made mineral wool insulation, tested for thermal conductivity (0.034 W/mK) and acoustic absorption performance.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
