How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview

50mm Metal I Stud for internal partition systems, used with I Track to build acoustic, fire-rated, and high-performance walls.

With wider flanges and integrated service slots, it provides extra rigidity and simplified routing of services, setting it apart from standard C Studs.

Installed as vertical studs in non-loadbearing partitions, the stud offers a consistent fixing edge for plasterboard linings, suitable for residential and light commercial applications.

The slim 50mm cavity keeps wall build-up compact while still allowing for light services and acoustic insulation. Its geometry improves resistance to twisting during handling and installation, supporting precise alignment throughout the wall height.

Designed for use with 50mm head and base tracks and compatible with standard deflection head details, the stud accommodates single- or multi-layer board linings to meet the acoustic and fire performance required by the chosen system.

Manufactured from galvanised steel, it ensures strength, durability, and corrosion resistance for reliable long-term performance in typical interior environments.

Supplied in a 3600mm length to accommodate taller wall heights with fewer joins.

Features & Benefits

  • Rigidity under load: I-profile resists buckling and twisting better than equivalent 50mm C studs.
  • Slim wall build-up: 50mm cavity minimises floor area impact while providing space for light services and insulation.
  • Accurate finishing: Straight roll-formed edges support true board alignment and smooth jointing.
  • System compatibility: Aligns with standard 50mm tracks, head deflection details, and common board fixing patterns.
  • Durable material: Galvanised steel resists corrosion for a consistent service life in dry internal applications.
  • 3600mm length: Ideal for extended wall heights.

Applications

  • Lightweight partitions: Forms vertical framing for domestic rooms and light commercial spaces.
  • Service enclosures: Suitable for boxing-in and riser fronts with compact footprints.
  • Acoustic upgrades: Enables lined partitions with insulation to improve room-to-room sound separation.
  • Refurbishment projects: Useful where minimal wall thickness and reduced weight are required.

Installation Guidance

  • Set-out: Fix compatible 50mm head and base tracks to the substrate per system guidance.
  • Stud placement: Insert studs into tracks at the spacings specified by the lining system and project design.
  • Openings: Reinforce doorways and penetrations with appropriate studs and trimmers as detailed by the system.
  • Board fixing: Attach plasterboard to stud faces using approved drywall screws and patterns.
  • Services & insulation: Install services and insulation within the cavity without overcutting or distorting studs.

Compliance & Performance

  • Material specification: Manufactured from galvanised steel suitable for interior drywall applications.
  • System role: Non-loadbearing vertical framing for plasterboard partitions; performance determined by the tested system build-up.
  • Acoustic & fire ratings: Dependent on board type, layers, stud spacing, and insulation; follow the relevant system data.
  • Important note: Edges may be sharp - use gloves and eye protection; do not use as a structural loadbearing member.
