40mm Kingspan Kooltherm K103 Floorboard is a superior thermal insulation solution for use in a variety of floor buildups, including insulating beam and block concrete floors. With a thermal conductivity of just 0.018 W/mK across all thicknesses, this is a premium insulation and the most thermally efficient product on the market.
The Kooltherm K103 insulation boards are comprised of a fibre free rigid thermoset phenolic core that is sandwiched between glass tissue facings on either side, which is autohesively bonded to the core. The boards are light and rigid, making them easy to handle and install.
These Kingspan Kooltherm K103 floorboards are manufactured with a blowing agent that has zero ODP and low GWP, making them environmentally friendly. Coming in the industry standard size of 2400mm x 1200mm, they cover 2.88m2 of floor space per board, allowing maximum coverage while not compromising on usability.

Kingspan K103 Phenolic Core
40mm Kingspan Kooltherm K103 Floorboard is comprised of a fibre free rigid thermoset phenolic core and a glass tissue based facing on either side. Phenolic insulation has a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/mK, which makes it the best insulation board on the market for thermal performance. It is more expensive than PIR, but it does provide the ultimate protection against heat loss.
Kingspan is a manufacturer of rigid thermoset insulation materials. Kingspan manufactures Kooltherm K103 floorboard insulation with an environmentally-friendly manufactured with a blowing agent. The special blowing agent that Kingspan uses has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP). Even better, phenolic is water-resistant. Kingspan Kooltherm K103 Floorboard is a premium designed insulation for installation under floors. We recommend Kingspan floor insulation to insulate beam and block concrete, and timber floors. It has compressive strength above 120 kPa at 10% compression, meaning it retains its effectiveness even under heavy floors.
40mm Kooltherm K103 Installation
40mm Kingspan Kooltherm K103 Floorboard is intended for installation under concrete floor slabs, screed or timber floors. Installing insulation under floorboards is less complicated than installing insulation in pitched roofs, but it is still important that they are secure and correctly installed.
It is important to check the space under your floorboards for rot and structural issues. The simplest way to install the boards is to place them between the floor joists. We always recommend using equipment to secure the insulation boards, but in most cases you do not have to. Always consult a professional before undertaking insulation projects.
