What Is Polyethylene Damp Proof Course (DPC) 300mm x 30m?

Visqueen Polyethylene DPC 300mm x 30m is a durable, domestic-grade damp proof course, expertly manufactured in the UK from selected, high-quality reprocessed polyethylene. It provides a dependable and economical barrier against moisture penetration in the brick and blockwork of homes up to two storeys.

Essential for preventing rising damp when installed horizontally within mortar joints (typically 150mm above ground), it is equally suited for vertical installation, providing crucial waterproofing around openings/junctions (like window reveals), and at differing external ground levels (floor/ground level changes). Achieving a secure mortar bond is aided by its distinct embossed surface - a critical element for installation integrity and performance.

Offering reliable long-term protection, this DPC meets stringent UK and EU standards, including BS 6515 and CE Marking to EN 14909.

Applications

  • Suitable for use in wet bedded vertical and horizontal DPC applications.
  • Designed for domestic constructions up to two storeys high.
  • Ideal for preventing rising damp in standard brick and block walls.

Benefits

  • Effective Damp Proofing: Prevents the passage of moisture from external sources in brick and blockwork.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: Ideal for domestic builds, providing reliable performance at an economical price point.
  • Durable Construction: Made from high-quality reprocessed polyethylene materials.
  • Enhanced Mortar Adhesion: Features a pronounced embossed surface to improve keying with mortar.
  • Compliance Assured: CE Marked to EN 14909 and conforms to the requirements of BS 6515.
  • Cold Weather Flexibility: Remains workable at low temperatures (down to -20°C), suitable for year-round installation (above 5°C).
  • Safe and Easy Handling: Chemically inert, non-hazardous, and clean to handle on site.
  • Quality Manufacturing: Produced under an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Important Usage Notes

  • Cavity Trays: In accordance with BS 6515, standard Polyethylene DPC is NOT suitable for applications involving downwards water movement, such as cavity tray applications. For these uses, please specify Visqueen Zedex CPT DPC or Visqueen High Bond DPC.
  • Minimal Stress Applications: For situations requiring resistance to minimal stress, Visqueen Zedex High Bond DPC is recommended.
  • UV Exposure: This product is not designed for long-term exposure to UV light, which can cause embrittlement. Ensure it remains covered or built into the structure promptly.

Installation Guidelines

  • Installation should strictly follow the recommendations of the Code of Practice CP102:1973 (as amended) and BS 5628: Part 3 for good damp proof course detailing.
  • Work can proceed in most weather conditions normal for wall construction, however, installation is not recommended below 5°C.
  • Jointing: Where joints are necessary, ensure a minimum overlap of 100mm. Seal all laps and joints thoroughly using Visqueen Zedex DPC Jointing Tape. In cold conditions, keep jointing tape warm and dry prior to use.

Storage and Handling
  • Store rolls under cover in a dry environment, protected from sunlight and UV exposure.
  • Handle with care on site to avoid punctures or damage.
  • The material is non-hazardous and chemically inert.
