How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Product Overview
140mm Solid Dense 7.3N Concrete Blocks are high-strength, load-bearing masonry units engineered for robust construction in both domestic and commercial projects. Featuring an increased 140mm thickness, these blocks offer superior structural stability compared to the 100mm variant, making them the ideal choice for heavy-duty load-bearing walls, foundation work, and environments requiring enhanced sound insulation and thermal mass.
Purchasing these blocks provides a substantial masonry solution for structural walling and high-load applications. Their solid, dense construction ensures excellent fire resistance and durability. The 140mm profile provides an additional margin of stability, specifically designed for applications where greater load-bearing capacity or wall thickness is required to support floor and roof systems.
Features & Benefits
- 7.3N compressive strength: High-load capacity suitable for structural piers, load-bearing walls, and reinforced openings.
- Solid dense construction: Provides superior acoustic insulation and non-combustible fire resistance for safety and comfort.
- Versatile masonry unit: Compatible with standard mortar types for efficient laying and bonding in various structural configurations.
- Structural durability: Designed for longevity in both below-DPC and above-ground applications.
- Increased thickness: The 140mm profile offers greater structural rigidity and lateral stability than the 100mm variant, making it better suited for more demanding load-bearing walls.
- Standard height and length: Maintains standard dimensions for integration into existing wall systems, despite the increased 140mm depth.
Applications
- Foundation walling: Standard choice for below-DPC applications such as foundations and sleeper walls requiring a 140mm footprint.
- Internal load-bearing walls: Suitable for supporting heavy upper floors, ceilings, and large-span roof structures.
- Separating walls: Provides enhanced acoustic insulation and fire resistance between dwellings due to the increased 140mm mass.
- External walls: Forms a substantial structural inner leaf of a cavity wall or a robust solid wall when finished with render, cladding, or other protective systems.
- Piers and columns: Used to build structural piers to support heavy beams (lintels/RSJs) or to reinforce door and window openings with a 140mm base.
- Retaining walls (non-structural): Commonly used for garden landscaping, such as creating raised flower beds or low garden terraces requiring a 140mm width.
- Infill panels: Frequently used as fire-resistant, secure infill between steel or timber frame members in industrial or commercial builds.
- Firewalls: Utilised to create thicker compartment walls in garages or workshops to provide superior protection against the spread of fire.
Installation Guidance
- Lay with appropriate mortar: Apply a consistent bed and perpend of mortar to ensure structural integrity and load distribution.
- Ensure level bedding: Use a spirit level regularly to maintain plumb and level courses throughout the wall height.
- Apply correct ties: When constructing cavity walls, use appropriate wall ties at specified centres to secure the inner and outer leaves.
- Ensure proper load bearing: When using 140mm blocks to support an RSJ, ensure the pier is fully cured and the beam is seated on a proper concrete padstone to prevent localised crushing of the block.
- Handle with care: Although robust, use mechanical handling where possible to maintain the integrity of the blocks and prevent site-based damage.
Compliance & Performance
- Compressive strength: 7.3N/mm² structural rating.
- Fire resistance: Non-combustible material; provides reliable compartmentation.
- Acoustic performance: High-density mass assists in noise reduction between rooms and dwellings.
- Important note: Always consult local building regulations and structural engineering specifications regarding the design of retaining walls or load-bearing piers, as reinforcement may be required based on specific site loads.
- Pallet Charge: Orders requiring a pallet will incur a refundable pallet charge. Our customer service team will confirm if this applies to your order.
