Product Overview

Purchasing 100mm Solid Dense 7.3N Concrete Blocks as a pack ensures your construction projects run smoothly and cost-effectively. When you choose packs of 72:

  • Better value for money: Buying larger quantities reduces the cost per block, giving you a stronger return on investment.
  • Less risk of damage: Bulk packs are securely stacked and delivered, minimising the chances of individual blocks breaking in transit.
  • Lower overall costs: Ordering small amounts regularly often means extra surcharges and higher transport fees. Stocking up avoids this.

Features & Benefits

  • Maximises efficiency & productivity: Keeps workers supplied with durable blocks, cutting downtime on site.
  • Consistency across projects: Ensures every section of your build uses the same strength and density of block.
  • Avoids delays: With a ready supply on hand, you won’t be held back by lead times or last-minute shortages.
  • Saves time on site: Having blocks ready to go speeds up the build process, making life easier for the whole team.

Applications

  • Foundation walling: Standard choice for below-DPC applications such as foundations and sleeper walls.
  • Internal load-bearing walls: Suitable for supporting upper floors, ceilings, and roof structures.
  • Separating walls: Provides essential acoustic insulation and fire resistance between dwellings.
  • External walls: Forms the structural inner leaf of a cavity wall or a solid wall when finished with render, cladding, or other protective systems.
  • Piers and columns: Used to build structural piers to support heavy beams, lintels, or rolled steel joists (RSJs), and to reinforce door and window openings.
  • Retaining walls (non-structural): Commonly used for small-scale garden landscaping, such as creating raised flower beds or low garden terraces.
  • Infill panels: Frequently used as fire-resistant, secure infill between steel or timber frame members in industrial or commercial builds.
  • Firewalls: Utilised to create compartment walls in garages or workshops to effectively slow the spread of fire.
  • Garden and boundary walls: High compressive strength provides the necessary structural mass for freestanding walls and external boundaries up to 1.2m in height.
  • Fireplace and chimney construction: Non-combustible A1 rated material ensures suitability for chimney breast rebuilding and fireplace surrounds in compliance with Building Regulations Part J.
  • Acoustic separating walls: High density material weighing approximately 2000kg/m³ provides the required sound attenuation for internal partitions in multi-occupancy dwellings to meet Part E requirements.

Installation Guidance

  • Lay with appropriate mortar: Apply a consistent bed and perpend of mortar to ensure structural integrity and load distribution.
  • Ensure level bedding: Use a spirit level regularly to maintain plumb and level courses throughout the wall height.
  • Apply correct ties: When constructing cavity walls, use appropriate wall ties at specified centres to secure the inner and outer leaves.
  • Handle with care: Although robust, use mechanical handling where possible to maintain the integrity of the blocks and prevent site-based damage.

Compliance & Performance

  • Compressive strength: 7.3N/mm² structural rating.
  • Fire resistance: Non-combustible material; provides reliable compartmentation.
  • Acoustic performance: High-density mass assists in noise reduction between rooms and dwellings.
  • Pallet Charge: A pallet will incur a refundable pallet charge. Our customer service team will confirm if this applies to your order.

How delivery works

We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.

Delivery areas

Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.

If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.

What to expect on delivery day

  • Deliveries are typically kerbside.
  • Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
  • Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.

Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery

Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.

Returns

Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.

Questions and Answers

How much mortar will I need per pack of concrete blocks?

For a single pack of 72 solid dense blocks (laid with a standard 10mm joint), you will typically need approximately 125kg to 150kg of mortar. Mortar usage varies based on wastage and joint thickness. For structural or load-bearing walls, always consult a structural engineer or professional builder to ensure your mix and block choice meet local building regulations.
