11mm OSB 3 is a moisture resistant, structural panel for use in a variety of internal and external applications including roofs, floors and walls. OSB, short for Oriented Strand Board, consists of multi-layered softwood flakes that are laid in specific orientations and hot pressed to form a single panel. The boards are strong and durable, making them a great alternative to plywood and ideal for shelving, sheds, display boards and other domestic uses, as well as commercial applications such as a sub floors and roof decking. Good quality OSB boards bring many benefits, and are used extensively in renovation work and new projects for their load-bearing qualities. They are stronger than chipboard products and non-structural plywoods. The boards are manufactured to EN 300 performance standards, and are BBA approved. Standard boards have consistent dimensions of 2440 x 1220 (or 8ft x 4ft), and are sold individually.

OSB is a the perfect sheet material to use in humid conditions. While the OSB2 board is only suitable for dry conditions, OSB3 board can withstand more challenging conditions. Despite this being the case, it is always a good idea to add further weather protection if you are planning to use if for permanent outdoor use. You can do this by adding a weather-proof exterior paint, followed by a wood waterproofing sealant. Allow 12-14 hours for it to dry before installing it - you can add a second coat if required.
