Product Overview
10mm limestone chippings produced from quarried natural limestone.
Crushed and carefully screened to a nominal 10mm size, these chippings have a fine, angular profile that allows them to compact closely when laid.
This interlocking structure creates a stable surface that is ideal for finer concrete mixes, pipe bedding, and functional landscaping applications such as paths and driveways.
Unlike premium decorative aggregates, these chippings are not selected for uniformity, but for strength, durability, and versatility.
Their fine grading promotes effective drainage, ensuring suitability for groundworks where a free-draining material is essential.
Features & Benefits
- Angular particle shape: Compacts well to create a stable surface in both construction and landscaping use.
- Free-draining aggregate: Supports natural drainage and reduces the risk of surface water pooling.
- Durable natural stone: Withstands weather cycles, including frost and heavy rainfall, without breaking down.
- Weed suppression with membrane: Reduces regrowth when laid over a permeable geotextile.
- Low-maintenance surface: Requires only periodic raking and occasional top-ups to retain appearance.
- Versatile use: Suitable for both concreting applications and functional garden landscaping.
- Nominal 10mm grading: Finer stone size ideal for specialist concretes, screeds, and areas with dense reinforcement.
- Cost-effective in bulk: Bulk bags reduce cost per m² compared with smaller pack sizes.
Applications
- Finer concrete mixes: Used as the coarse aggregate where smaller stone improves workability and finish.
- Pipe bedding: Provides a stable, permeable bed for underground drainage installations.
- Specialist screeds: Suitable for formulations requiring a fine aggregate.
- Pathways: Creates a relatively smooth, firm surface for pedestrian use.
- Light-use driveways: Suitable for domestic driveways with an appropriate sub-base.
- Borders and edging: Useful as a functional, low-maintenance finish around beds and lawns.
- General ground cover: Provides a neat, weed-suppressing layer when installed over a geotextile membrane.
Installation Guidance
- Prepare and level the base: Remove vegetation, stones, and debris, firming the ground to reduce later sinking.
- Install edging restraints: Use boards, metal strips, or kerbs to prevent migration and keep paths neat.
- Lay permeable weed membrane: Blocks light to minimise weed growth while allowing water to drain freely.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Crushed quarried limestone, angular in form, 10mm nominal size, with natural colour variation in grey, buff, or cream tones.
- Performance characteristics: Durable, free-draining aggregate suitable for finer concretes, pipe bedding, and functional landscaping applications.
- Plant compatibility: Limestone is alkaline and will raise soil pH. It is unsuitable for use around acid-loving (ericaceous) plants such as rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, and heathers. Best suited to lime-tolerant planting schemes or non-planted areas.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
