What Is 100mm Knauf Acoustic Roll?
100mm Knauf Acoustic Roll is a glass mineral wool acoustic insulation solution designed to reduce noise transmission and enhance acoustic performance in partitions and floors.
At the heart of these rolls lies a network of thousands of minuscule air pockets, strategically engineered to capture and silence sound waves as they traverse through the material. This innovative construction not only muffles noise but also significantly reduces noise transmission, ensuring a quieter and more serene environment.
Designed for versatility, these rolls seamlessly integrate into various applications within both residential and commercial settings. From internal floors to timber and metal stud partitions, Knauf Acoustic Roll 100mm enhances acoustic performance while maintaining structural integrity.
What sets these rolls apart is Knauf's pioneering ECOSE Technology, which renders them softer and fluffier compared to conventional glass mineral wool insulation. This ensures ease of handling and installation while delivering uncompromised acoustic performance.
Furthermore, Knauf Acoustic Roll 100mm boasts an array of certifications and accolades, including a Euroclass Fire Rating of A1 and a Generic BRE Green Guide Rating of A+, making them not only effective but also environmentally responsible.
100mm Acoustic Sound Insulation Roll Applications
With a density of at least 10kg/m2, Knauf Acoustic Partition Rolls (APR) 100mm can be used in both wall and floor applications to reduce the passage of sound transmission and improve thermal and fire performance.
Acoustic Roll is specifically designed for friction fitting between resilient timber battens and timber studs in robust detail separating floors and walls at 400mm and 600mm centres.
Knauf insulation acoustic roll can be used in the following residential building elements:
- Separating walls and floors
- Internal walls and floors
- Timber and metal stud partitions (including commercial metal stud partitions)
Benefits of Knauf 100mm Acoustic Insulation Roll
Using glass mineral wool as a sound absorbent layer in partitions and floors significantly improves their acoustic performance, whilst only adding minimally to the overall mass of the structure.
In partitions glass mineral wool complements the plasterboard linings by absorbing airborne sound in the cavity and reducing reverberation; it is particularly effective at preventing the hollow sound that can occur in partitions with unfilled cavities.
Let's have a look at the specs:
- Excellent sound absorption characteristics provide high levels of sound reduction
- Friction fits between studs and closes joints, ensuring continuity of the absorbent layer with no air gaps
- Roll format allows for quick and economical installation
- Ready-cut rolls for use with timber studs at 400mm centres or timber studs at 600mm centres
- Euroclass Reaction to Fire Classification (A1-F): A1
- Proven test results with all major brands of plasterboard to provide assured compliance with sound-related building regulations
Knauf Acoustic Roll 100mm Certifications
- Generic BRE Green Guide Rating A+
- Classified as Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and Zero GWP (Global Warming Potential)
- A1 Euroclass Fire Rating
- Manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13162
- Awarded the DECLARE `Red List Free’ label - meaning no 'Red List' ingredients, including formaldehyde or phenolic
Handling & Storage 100mm Insulation Roll
Acoustic roll is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size. It is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. When it comes to storage, we advise that you store the slabs inside; keeping them nice and dry.
100mm Knauf Acoustic Performance
The fibre matrix of Knauf rolls encourages the absorption of sound waves, whereas other insulation types simply let the sound pass through. If your walls and floors are not insulated, there are very few barriers for the sound waves to get through. The more layers the vibrations have to travel through, the fewer that will make it into the next room.
The rolls have a minimum density of 10kg/m3, and this manufactured density meets standards for robust detail walls and floors, such as separating floors and walls.
Customer Reviews
Knauf is one of the well known major brands and I am very pleased with how quickly this could be installed. The roll format meant the insulation could be easily carried up to the loft.
