Product Overview
Brown Rock Salt supplied in 25kg bags, consisting of naturally mined halite crystals with a coarse granular structure and characteristic brown mineral tone. Designed for fast and effective de-icing, it breaks surface ice bonds quickly and provides reliable traction underfoot and under vehicle load.
Its smaller pack format offers ease of handling and controlled application, ideal for smaller sites, individual pathways, and precise spreading operations.
The material combines the same quality and purity as bulk supply, ensuring consistent melting performance across all use scales. Naturally occurring trace minerals give the salt its brown colour and improve grip during thaw cycles.
Features & Benefits
- High purity halite composition: Delivers rapid melting performance even in sub-zero conditions.
- Coarse granular form: Ensures steady release and reduced scatter loss during spreading.
- Brown mineral tone: Enhances surface visibility during application and provides improved traction.
- Controlled coverage: Ideal for areas requiring measured salt distribution such as paths and driveways.
- Portable 25kg bag format: Easy to lift, store, and handle without mechanical assistance.
- Minimised waste: Enables accurate usage with reduced surplus material.
- Equivalent quality to bulk supply: Same de-icing efficiency and consistency as larger packs.
- 25kg bag supply: Practical for small-scale applications and space-restricted storage areas.
Applications
- Pathways and patios: Ensures precise spreading for safe pedestrian areas.
- Driveways and access routes: Provides even coverage and lasting grip in residential or small business settings.
- Small commercial premises: Suitable for car parks, forecourts, and entrance areas.
- General maintenance: Useful for on-demand winter safety in light-use environments.
Installation Guidance
- Spread evenly: Distribute salt uniformly using a shovel or handheld spreader.
- Apply pre-emptively: Use before freezing or snowfall for optimal melting performance.
- Reapply as required: Maintain coverage following heavy precipitation or freeze-thaw cycles.
- Store securely: Keep bags dry and sealed to prevent clumping and moisture ingress.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Brown halite rock salt conforming to BS 3247:2011 for de-icing grade salt.
- Performance range: Effective down to approximately –10°C depending on spread rate.
- Storage stability: Long shelf life under dry, covered conditions.
- Environmental consideration: Avoid overuse near vegetation or drainage channels to limit salt run-off.
- Important note: Handle with gloves or protective clothing to prevent skin irritation.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
