What is Rhinovent Ultra?
Rhinovent Ultra Roof Breather Membrane is a high-performance underlay engineered to protect pitched roofs from moisture-related damage. Designed with a laminated composite structure, it features a vapour-permeable film that allows moisture to escape while preventing external water ingress, ensuring a drier and more stable roofing system.
The membrane is reinforced with two layers of durable nonwoven polypropylene spunbond felt, providing exceptional flexibility and strength beneath roof tiles. Suitable for both cold and warm roof applications, Rhinovent Ultra enhances airflow, helping to regulate humidity levels and minimise the risk of condensation. By maintaining a well-ventilated roof space, it protects the underlying timber from damp and decay, extending the lifespan of the structure.
Manufactured to meet the highest standards, Rhinovent Ultra is compliant with the Construction Products Regulation (EU Regulation No. 305/2011), as well as Underlay for discontinuous roofing (Annex ZA of EN 13859-1). It is produced under the rigorous quality controls of an ISO 9001 certified system.
Applications
Warm Non-Ventilated Roofs
In warm roof systems, where insulation is positioned above or between the rafters, airflow is minimal, increasing the risk of trapped moisture. Rhinovent Ultra acts as a highly breathable barrier, allowing water vapour to escape while preventing external moisture from penetrating. This helps regulate humidity levels and minimises the risk of condensation buildup, which can lead to timber decay and insulation damage.
Cold Ventilated Roofs
Cold roof designs rely on airflow through ventilation gaps to remove excess moisture, but additional protection is essential. Rhinovent Ultra ensures moisture can pass through the membrane while providing a secondary defence against wind-driven rain, snow, and dust. By keeping insulation and structural timber dry, it helps maintain thermal efficiency and long-term roof performance.
