Product Overview
Tyvek Housewrap Breather Membrane with a 1.4m width and 100m length is a lightweight, vapour-permeable external membrane designed to provide durable weather protection across timber frame, steel frame, and concrete wall systems. Its high-density polyethylene structure delivers long-term resistance to wind and water while supporting controlled moisture movement.
The membrane enhances building envelope performance by regulating the transfer of heat, air, and vapour, contributing to stable internal conditions across new build, refurbishment, and extension projects.
Engineered for external surface application, it is fixed directly to sheathing boards, insulation layers, or masonry substrates, forming a reliable protective layer beneath cladding.
Its breathable composition reduces condensation risk by allowing surplus vapour to escape outward, supporting healthier internal environments and protecting structural components.
By limiting uncontrolled air leakage while permitting drying, it contributes to improved energy efficiency and robust lifecycle performance throughout varied construction types.
Features & Benefits
- Breathable construction: Allows internal moisture vapour to escape to reduce condensation risk and maintain stable wall conditions.
- Wind-tight and water resistant: Provides durable external protection that prevents wind-driven rain ingress while maintaining structural dryness.
- Energy efficiency support: Helps optimise thermal performance by limiting air leakage and stabilising internal temperatures throughout the year.
- Durable polyethylene structure: Formed from high-density fibres that deliver long-term resistance against external weather loads.
- Lightweight handling: Simplifies installation across large elevations without compromising membrane integrity.
- Extended exposure tolerance: Can remain uncovered for up to four months while retaining full declared performance.
- Certified performance: CE marked and approved by BBA, IAB, and UKAS for dependable compliance across building types.
Applications
- Timber frame walls: Provides a vapour-permeable, wind-tight layer suitable for lightweight structural assemblies.
- Steel frame structures: Supports controlled moisture behaviour and weather protection across metal-stud construction.
- Concrete walls: Serves as an external breather membrane to regulate vapour movement and enhance façade durability.
Installation Guidance
- Substrate preparation: Ensure sheathing, insulation, or blockwork surfaces are clean, level, and securely fixed before installing the membrane.
- Membrane alignment: Unroll the membrane horizontally and maintain consistent tension to achieve correct coverage.
- Fixing application: Secure the membrane directly to the substrate using appropriate fasteners or tapes without overstressing the material.
- Lap detailing: Form reliable overlaps and seal where required to maintain wind-tight and water-resistant continuity.
- Penetration sealing: Apply compatible tapes around openings and service penetrations to maintain airtightness and weather protection.
Compliance & Performance
- Material specification: Manufactured from high-density polyethylene fibres with a functional layer thickness of 175 μm for long-term durability.
- Moisture behaviour: Highly permeable to water vapour to support drying and minimise condensation formation within wall build-ups.
- Weather resistance: Provides wind-tight and water-resistant barrier performance suitable for varied external envelope designs.
- Independent certification: Fully CE marked and approved by BBA, IAB, and UKAS for verified performance.
- Important note: Install in accordance with manufacturer instructions and relevant building regulations to maintain declared moisture and weather protection.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
