Product Overview
Kingspan Kooltherm K118 Insulated Plasterboard with a 72.5mm thickness. This rigid phenolic insulated dry-lining board is designed for internal wall applications. It combines insulation, plasterboard, and vapour control in a single component to reduce installation time and simplify wall build-ups.
The board features a 60mm fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic core bonded to 12.5mm plasterboard on the front surface, with a low-emissivity composite foil facing on the reverse to enhance thermal performance when installed against an air space. Its integrated vapour control layer supports condensation management within internal wall systems.
Suitable for mechanical fixing or adhesive bonding, it provides a practical solution for new build, retrofit, and refurbishment projects. The 72.5mm board is suited to high-performance insulated dry-lining specifications where maximum insulation depth is required.
Features & Benefits
- High thermal efficiency: Provides a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/m·K to deliver strong thermal performance in dry-lining systems.
- Integrated construction: Combines insulation, plasterboard, and vapour control in one board to reduce installation stages.
- Quick-response heating: Supports faster internal temperature changes due to reduced thermal mass on the room side.
- Unaffected by air infiltration: Maintains performance without reduction caused by air movement behind the lining.
- Water vapour resistance: Offers resistance to the passage of moisture to support condensation control within internal wall assemblies.
- Ease of handling: Lightweight and straightforward to cut, position, and fix using mechanical or adhesive methods.
- Versatile application: Suitable for new build, retrofit, and refurbishment dry-lining installations.
- Environmental performance: Manufactured with a blowing agent featuring zero ODP and low GWP for reduced environmental impact.
- Material status: Classified as a non-deleterious material for internal construction use.
- Thickness suitability: 72.5mm suited to maximum-depth insulated linings in high-performance internal wall systems.
Applications
- Internal dry lining: Used to insulate and finish internal walls using mechanical fixings or adhesive bonding.
- Retrofit upgrades: Suitable for improving thermal performance in existing buildings with minimal disruption.
- Refurbishment projects: Provides an integrated insulated lining solution for wall upgrades in occupied or older buildings.
- New build installations: Supports efficient installation in new internal wall constructions requiring insulation and finish in one board.
Installation Guidance
- Fixing preparation: Survey existing walls to confirm suitability for supporting insulated dry-lining systems.
- Surface readiness: Ensure wall surfaces are clean, stable, dry, and free from loose or contaminated materials before fixing.
- Cutting procedure: Score the plasterboard face and break cleanly over a firm edge before trimming the insulation layer.
- Adhesive installation: Apply dabs or continuous ribbons of drywall adhesive as specified for bonded dry-lining systems.
- Mechanical fixing: Position fixings through the board into timber studs, metal framing, or appropriate wall anchors as required.
- Joint finishing: Seal joints, penetrations, and perimeters to maintain vapour control continuity and prepare for decoration.
Compliance & Performance
- Thermal performance: Achieves a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/m·K for effective insulated dry-lining applications.
- Integrated vapour control: Provides a built-in vapour-resistant layer to support condensation management when correctly detailed.
- Design standards: Installation should align with BS 8212 for dry-lining and partitioning using gypsum plasterboard.
- Management systems: Manufactured under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001, and ISO 50001 certified management systems for quality, environmental, safety, and energy performance.
- Limitation guidance: The plasterboard face must not be used to isolate dampness and is unsuitable for continuously humid conditions.
- Important note: Follow manufacturer instructions and building regulations regarding vapour control, fire stops, and fixing methods.

How delivery works
We work with a nationwide network of trusted suppliers. Items in your basket may be supplied by different suppliers and delivered separately. Where this applies, you will see delivery charges shown at checkout for each part of your order. We always aim to group products from the same supplier to keep delivery costs as low as possible.
Delivery areas
Delivery charges apply to mainland UK, excluding: AB, CA, CF, DD, DG, EH, EX, FK, KA, KW, KY, IV, LA, LD, LL, ML, NP, PA, PH, PL, SA, SY, TR, TQ and TD.
If your address is in one of these areas, we will contact you before processing your order to confirm any additional costs. We do not currently offer delivery outside the UK mainland.
What to expect on delivery day
- Deliveries are typically kerbside.
- Please ensure someone is on-site to accept delivery. For heavier items, help with offloading may be required.
- Many building materials arrive on large vehicles. If access is restricted, a specialist vehicle such as a HIAB may be required and could incur an additional charge.
Why delivery can cost more than typical parcel delivery
Building materials often travel on larger vehicles and usually carry fewer drops per run than parcel networks. That is why delivery charges can be higher than standard e-commerce shipping.
Returns
Returns depend on what you have bought and whether there is anything wrong with it. For full details on eligibility, timeframes, and exclusions, please see our full policy.
